Alice Sebold, the author of The Lovely Bones, apologized Tuesday to the man who spent 16 years behind bars after he was wrongfully convicted of raping her when she was a college student. In a statement released first to the Associated Press and then published on Medium, Sebold said she was "truly sorry" to Anthony Broadwater Jr. and that she deeply regretted what he had been through.

Kavanaugh, a associate Justice who was appointed to the bench by U.S. President Donald John Trump in 2018. HARTFORD— — Now that Pedro Miranda has been convicted of the 1988 killing of a 17-year-old girl at the Nelton Court housing project, it is time for Miguel Roman, the man who wrongfully served 20 years in prison for the crime, to seek justice. Roman is suing the city of Hartford and the police officers who investigated the slaying of Carmen Lopez, seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages, in federal court.

The man accused of killing 3-year-old Riley Fox, Scott Eby, left a big clue at the scene of the crime six years ago. Eby, who was living about a mile from the Foxes in 2004, left a pair of mud-covered shoes at Forked Creek, where he allegedly raped and killed Fox. The shoes had his name written on them. Police collected the shoes and put them into evidence but never followed up. They focused their case instead on the girl’s father, Kevin Fox who confessed to her murder. Dwayne Allen Dail, who was wrongly convicted of rape and spent 18 years in prison, was expected in court Wednesday in a civil suit for back child support. Lorraine Michaels, the mother of Dail's son, filed the lawsuit. The suit does not specify how much money she wants, as is normal in North Carolina, but asks a "reasonable sum for the care and maintenance of the minor child" for the years Dail was in prison. In August, new DNA evidence showed Dail did not rape a 12-year-old Goldsboro girl on Sept. 4, 1987. Dail is entitled to $360,000 in compensation...

Johnny Briscoe is a free man today, after serving 23 years for crimes the state now says he didn't commit.
