The Broyles of Tennessee were visiting Yellowstone National Park where they got an unexpected welcome on the park’s entrance road. A herd of bison, estimated to number around 150, sauntered down the highway stopping traffic and engulfing the Broyles’ SUV, all captured on video.

The campground is a few miles from the town of West Yellowstone, near an entrance to Yellowstone Park. Mock was able to dial 911. Carl Mock, 40, who lived in the park gateway community of West Yellowstone, died Saturday, two days after he was attacked while fishing alone in a forested area along the Madison River... managed to call 911 after the attack and was found after searchers looked for him for about 50 minutes. An Idaho Falls man and two others were in hot water after being found with cooking pots and two chickens in a thermal area of Yellowstone National Park. A ranger received reports on Aug. 7 that a group was hiking toward Shoshone Geyser Basin with cooking pots, a park spokeswoman told EastIdahoNews.com Friday. Park officials say the child ran off a trail Friday near Midway Geyser Basin on the park’s western side. The child slipped and fell into the small thermal feature. JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Wildlife officials have documented seven grizzly bear encounters resulting in injuries so far this year in the greater Yellowstone region, an increase compared to the previous high mark of three in the first half of 2007. A few months ago, residents of the valley of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, worried the summer tourism season might be a dud. Now 40,000 visitors a day stream through Jackson, a town in the valley and a gateway to neighboring Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks. West Yellowstone in Montana reported eleven earthquakes on Friday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The strongest one measured a magnitude of 3.1. The area has been hit by an additional 34 quakes in the past month, the Idaho Statesman reports. The quakes have ranged between 1.6 to 3.1 magnitudes and were about three miles deep.
