Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said Saturday that part of his immigration policy would be to build an electrified fence on the country’s border with Mexico that could kill people trying to enter the country illegally... Mr. Cain added that he also would consider using military troops “with real guns and real bullets” on the border to stop illegal immigration. The remarks were among the most pointed yet by Mr. Cain about illegal immigration, and they come as he is enjoying a surge in national political polls on the back of his victory in a recent Florida straw poll.. It...

With New York the latest state to allow gay marriage and others likely to follow, this issue will continue to consume public attention. Most conservatives strongly oppose such unions. I want to ask my conservative friends to take a quick logical trip: Help me—and you—understand your perspective. Your Limits on Government Let’s start with your views concerning government. Most of you believe that government should not jail consenting adults for engaging, in the privacy of their homes, in homosexual acts of which you, personally, disapprove. Most of you would not have the government bar such individuals from living together. Most...

This is a devastating analysis of Donald Trump from "The Great One." Mark Levin. And they are undeniably Trump's own words.

Recent unsettling revelations would indicate that, more and more, the US Chamber of Commerce is working for foreign nationals and corporations. Big business has been sending American jobs to other nations for a long time. Our current Congress has tried several measures to stop the bleeding and to bring some of those jobs back to Americans.

On November 7th Americans will go to the polls to vote in what will probably be the most important mid-term elections ever held in our country. Therefore, I write this article as an appeal to moderate and conservative voters with consciences, whose values I believe now approximate those of the Democratic Party much more than those of the Republican Party. That fact may not be evident to most Americans, since the wealthy and powerful corporations that have gained monopoly control of our national news media over the past several years, and who have showered the Republican Party with uncountable millions of dollars, have worked to conceal the fact that the Republican Party has drifted so far to the right that it is now totally out of touch with the values of ordinary Americans. Indeed, those corporations, who control our voting machines, our news media, and many of our politicians, have gained so much power that even the Democratic Party leadership has drifted to the right of most Americans. Yes, there are rare exceptions of prominent journalists, such as Keith Olberman, who have had the courage to tell it like it is. And now the corruption of the Republican Party has become so great and obvious that even our corporate controlled news media can no longer keep silent about it any longer. But still the extent of the anti-people nature of the agenda of the Republican Party is far from obvious to most Americans.

I received this via email in the past few minutes, has anyone else read this? This can't be true surely? Washington (AP) - President Bush has, by all accounts received harsh criticism over his handling of the Katrina relief effort. Earlier Tuesday, he publicly stated that he takes responsibility for the federal government's failures in the aftermath of Katrina, but what Bush may do next could surprise many observers. Senior Republican party sources have indicated to AP that Vice President, Dick Cheney led a delegation of administration officials unhappy with the federal response to hurricane Katrina and its aftermath to...

Looking at this nomination and the way that things are shaping up, it is hard to escape the feeling that the “no more Souters” vow has faded. John Roberts public record doesn’t demonstrate him to be the kind of candidate conservatives have advocated for the past decade. He may well prove to be the anti-Souter; he may be a true stealth conservative. But the fact of the matter is that what we don't know about him outweighs what we do know. Given these reservations and conservative vows to never again support a stealth nominee, why are most conservatives veritably drooling...

Jim Robinson is taking his supporters for a huge ride. Even though he's using this ancient perl/CGI format(that has changed 3 times in 6 years), there's no way in hell it costs $260,000 a year to run FreeRepublic unless Robinson is paying himself and his family at least $225,000 a year. https://secure.freerepublic.com/donate/budget Monthly Expenses Bandwidth $2,700 Technical Services 4,000 Administrative 7,500 Legal Expenses 3,000 Estimated Bank Fees, Insurance, Office Expenses, Maintenance and Repairs, Supplies, Travel, misc. 2,200 $2700 a month for bandwidth? What, he has his own dedicated T1/T3 lines? $48,000 a year for "Technical Services?" You could hire three...

The nature of conservative politics is very much of the status quo, the standards set by society for itself and which is harshly regulated by the establishment and by the right. Anything outside of the "normal" is to be destroyed, looked down upon, or forgotten. Only one culture is acceptable to the conservative and to the right, the culture, of course, of the that group. All others are unimportant and wrong. Look at the obviously pro-capitalist stance taken by most, if not all, conservatives. It is the viewpoint that only what is good for me and my own is good...

I love ZOTs! I find them enormously amusing. They prove that Rush is right when he says that the left is funny when they are out of power. Their hysterical rants are exactly that...Hysterical. However, recently I have found that ZOT material is simply being pulled without comment. I realize that this is a serious forum about conservative politics but if we tolerate blather from Helen Thomas et al (with mandatory Barf Alerts posted) why can't we see ZOTS?
