Both sides of my family fought in the America Revolution, The US Civil War (soldiers from Pennsylvania and NEw YOrk)and the wars of last century. My Great-Great Grandfather Bedell was imprisoned in Andersonville Prison and after the Civil War was released - very ill he walked to up-state NY and died leaving my great-great grandmother with 5 children.
