The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service erred little when it designated a vast area scattered over six states as critical habitat for the threatened Canada lynx...The designated habitat totals 39,000 square miles...
The Fish and Wildlife Service designated the habitat last year, prompting a lawsuit from snowmobile enthusiast groups in Wyoming and Washington state. The groups worry the designation could close off areas to snowmobiling and harm snowmobile-related businesses.
She is the wife of Wyoming Gov. Dave Freudenthal, who nominated her for the bench. "We're really pleased she's upheld the designation almost entirely," said Sean Helle, an attorney with the environmental law group Earthjustice, which represented environmental groups that intervened on the government's side in the case.

500 square miles of recently burned forest in Washington state cant reasonably be considered lynx habitat until the trees grow back years from now...Beth Ginsberg, an attorney for the snowmobile groups
Planted Lynx Fur In Habitat Survey .
government wildlife biologists planted lynx fur in two national forests to make it appear that the animals were present so that people would be kept out.
biologists planted three samples of lynx fur on rubbing posts in parts of the Wenatchee and Gifford Pinchot national forests in Washington state, areas not usually home to the lynx. Fur taken from such posts is used to indicate if lynx are in the area.
The seven biologists — three from the Forest Service, two from the Fish and Wildlife Service and two from the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife — admitted they planted the samples

Thank you for the ping George76.
"House Resources Committee Chairman James V. Hansen (R-Utah) and Rep. Scott McInnis (R-Colo.), chairman of the House forests subcommittee, called that "grossly inadequate punishment given the magnitude of this offense." They said if it is found that the intent was to skew the study, the biologists should be fired."
So, have any of the "reassigned/unretired" biologists been fired???
That would be silly.
Exactly correct :
we’re going to seize the land anyway.
That is the whole point. Furry critters are just the hook.
You know, I've raised this point before, mostly in the context of global warming threads, but it seems to apply here as well. Any leftist can spout virtually verbatim, Eisenhower's admonition against the "military-industrial complex," yet that was only one of two equally disturbing trends that Ike warned the nation of. As much as the left hopped on the first, they conveniently gloss over, or completey ignore the second, which Eisenhower referred to as "the scientific-technological elite." From Ike's address:
"Akin to, and largely responsible for the sweeping changes in our industrial-military posture, has been the technological revolution during recent decades.
In this revolution, research has become central, it also becomes more formalized, complex, and costly. A steadily increasing share is conducted for, by, or at the direction of, the Federal government.
Today, the solitary inventor, tinkering in his shop, has been overshadowed by task forces of scientists in laboratories and testing fields. In the same fashion, the free university, historically the fountainhead of free ideas and scientific discovery, has experienced a revolution in the conduct of research. Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. For every old blackboard there are now hundreds of new electronic computers.
The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present and is gravely to be regarded.
Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite."
Ah, yes, I recall the phoney Lynx studies...biologists planted hair. Some politician is ALWAYS looking to grab more land...lately it’s been John McCain and his democrat buddies in the senate.

The ecos —aka communists— also are grabbing more public land away from the mtn bikers ( normally very liberal ). Many of the liberal bikers are losing their trails to wilderness and are not happy .
There is a rush to get some of this passed before the DUmmies lose control of Congress.
Thanks for the ping.
The answer is to simply ignore this corrupt, fagged out old scumbag Nancy Freudenthal.
Say WA? Evergreen State ping
Quick link: WA State Board
FReepmail sionnsar if you want on or off this ping list.
Ping sionnsar if you see a Washington state related thread.
Thanks for the link.
With federal judges Freudenthal, Molloy and others the enviro nazis have the support of the judicial branch. Any outrageous law the very well funded enviro nazi groups can get passed their friends on the bench can be relied on to uphold.
This lynx thing is the most outrageous thing to come along. As has been pointed out it was supported by an out and out scam and the criminal biologists weren’t even fired.
As I’ve said before, the enviro nazis will not be satisfied until all federal lands are off limits to everyone but hikers (unarmed hikers) and then they’ll go for state lands as well.
I figured that it probably was, but thought I'd ask the question anyway.
I would have gone with "...unarmed naked barefoot hikers..."
You're probably closer to the truth than I.
I am unable to hike in the forests anymore but I think these people, radicals, should be careful. It won’t take too much more of this nonsense land grabbing and they will be considered nuisance varmints by radical rednecks, ie. fair game. I won’t mourn for them nor shed a tear.
