Chris Matthews describes "the Catholic Vote" on IMUS in the MORNING
November 2, 2004 | TaxachusettsMan

Chris Matthews is on IMUS in the MORNING with that other great Irish Catholic Democratic operative, the plagiarist Mike Barnicle (who spent yesterday making his on-air staff practice saying, "President-elect Kerry").

When IMUS brought up that his brother is a big time Republican official in Pennsylvania, Matthews made sure everyone knew that his father, a life-long Republican, voted for Kerry (Gore last time: life-long Republican?) because he was "sick of those young guys dying in Iraq."

Matthews went on, "My two aunts are nuns - and no one tells them how to vote. The bishops are all Republicans, but the nuns are always for the poor."

Reminds me of an elderly nun I saw here in Boston during the Kennedy-Romney campaign wearing a huge KENNEDY button on her habit. When I asked her about the drowning of Mary Jo Kopecne and the details of death by partial-birth abortion, she simply said, "But ROSE suffered so much."

Much has been made of the danger of "the stupid youth vote" in this election.

They're not the only stupid ones, and highly-paid stupid people like Matthews is, of course, cheering them on.

Thank God a lot of them have come to their senses lately.

Mostly the TOMs (Tired Old Men) have retired. We have a new crop of younger bishops who do not think like the old guys, Thank God!!

I was just entering the parking lot to go vote when the NBC/CBS twits came on.

On the way out, Imus was bragging about betting $10K for a Kerry win, "...but it goes to the ranch..."

I remember Drudge Radio saying NBC was threatening stations if they didn't carry Imus, maybe about a year ago.

Strange, since the local is a CC station.

Mel Gibson was on Sean Hannity yesterday and said he didn't know who he was going to vote for. Said he didn't like either candidate. Said he may vote third party or write in a name.

Are Nuns wearing "civvies" more often nowadays? I rarely ever see a nun in a traditional nun outfit. BTW, are nuns also allowed to do non-religious work? I know a woman vendor at the Swap Shop who claims she is also a nun.

Actually, JFK probably would recognize his party. Did he propose a huge tax cut because he was pro-business? Perish the thought!

New historical evidence is coming out that he illegally used the IRS to try to shut down conservative organizations.

In reviewing the research, academes pulled the "aw shucks, everybody does that", but could only come up with Watergate (which was supposedly the rule just 'cause they said so).

Yep, I'm young enough to have NEVER seen a nun in a habit. Nuns take a vow of poverty, so she wouldn't be allowed to keep much of the money she makes. I've never heard of a religious holding a regular job other than hospital work or teaching in a Catholic school.

Funny story and I hope no one is offended. This happened long long ago. I was in a city crossing the street with my two youngsters aged about 7 and 4. The older one, the boy sees a nun and asks me what she is wearing. I tell him it's a habit. He thinks for a moment and then with a puzzled voice says......a habit, you mean like little sister has a habit of picking her nose.

.

Matthews said on Imus this morning that the media will know by 3 pm Eastern today who the winner is. Of course, they won't be able to reveal any information until the polls close. So, start studying the faces of the MSM at that time. Who is smiling? Who is not? They will NOT be able to keep the secret!

I get so tired of this "Democrats are for the poor" crap

Catholics are for helping the poor .. But it's not the governments responsibility

Let the churches handle the charities
