CHEYENNE--During Al Simpson's nearly 50 years in government, he hasn't been afraid to take on critics and naysayers of his work in the U.S. Senate or on a variety of high-profile commissions and committees.
But as the co-chair of President Obama's debt commission, the Wyoming Republican said he's been taking an unprecedented amount of flak for the commission's draft proposals to help erase the nation's $13.8 trillion debt.
"I've never had any nastier mail or [been in a] more difficult position in my life," said the 79-year-old Simpson. "Just vicious. People I've known, relatives [saying], "'You son of a bitch. How could you do this?'"

What an ass-hat. The protoype RINO for YEARS, he fails to realize that those who paid in to Social Security for decades were told this was a “savings” to be returned when they reached Retirement. Now, they want those already-stolen “savings” to be a donation?

I have not looked at the garbage this fake blue ribbon panel is proposing. I know one thing. The $500 billion (at least) in ENDLESS benefits to illegals is probably not even mentioned in their “study.”

Being a vet of WWII and a depresssion child I learned the Fed government can be a sink hole for taxes on private money. I have to agree. I’m 58, but the entire SS network was already in place before I was born & I couldn’t change it alone.

Hid income at the Federal public trough is in an entirely different ‘pension’ system.
He is beyond hypocritical to slam anyone who work in the private sector for their entire lives & has Social Security, which they were forced to contribute into.
Myself, & million like me make the contributions they demanded. We are not in control of all the handouts to non-payers into the system which has occurred. We are not the actuaries who did all the math to produce a certain outcome.
Millions are collecting SSI- Who have paid litle or nothing into the system....including the 2 fatties who refuse to lose weight & who refuse to work at anything other than being able to stay on their SSI.
They each get $900 a month & they suck off their elderly mother & stepfather for whatever else they deem to need.
It is beyond disgusting. They are not over 35. They have collected this money for years. They drive new cars- do as they please.
I worked all my life, starting at age 15, & I get only $1039 a month to live on.
I sympathise with this view, however, the money has already been spent.
Taking what is ‘rightfully yours’, is reaching into everyone else’s pockets, people who are trying to get by.
It’s not right to steal from them, even if the government stole from you. The answer is to cut off the chain. This far and no further.

I think that to argue that the tune in drop out generation was better than we were at the same age is a fairy tale that doesn’t stand up to scrutiny.
