Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was injured in a motorcycle accident on Monday morning.
The Steelers confirmed the accident for Channel 4 Action News.
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review said the accident happened on Second Avenue near the 10th Street Bridge.
A witness told Channel 4 Action News that Roethlisberger went over the handlebars, hit the windshield of another vehicle and then hit the ground.
Roethlisberger was not wearing a helmet, according to the paper.

Well, someone's gotta do it...might as well be me.
It is not INSANE to drive without a helmet. It is not abnormal to ride without a helmet (drive Wisconsin roads anyday to see just how normal it is). It does not mean anyone has a death wish who rides without a helmet. Which is not to say it isn't SAFER to ride with a helmet. But it is our choice, and we do so with full understanding of the risks involved. And stop saying motorcyles are inherently UNSAFE. The only people who say such things don't ride. Learn how to ride one, you'll have a much different opinion. Whoever said "squids"...that's nice, isn't it? That's a good sign of respect for people's choice to ride on two wheels on the roads, isn't it? No wonder we have trouble with idiot car drivers when we ride. They already dismiss us so easily, small wonder they do the same thing when they're driving.
do = due
Doh!
"Total idiocy" might be the reason for their performance these past 2 seasons.
And it sounds as if a third is in doubt.

Oooooh!
He knows, or should by now, the consequences of playing football without a helmet. He knows what it's like having a 300+ human running full tilt slam into him, yet he doesn't think he needs a helmet on a bike with far more power, far greater speeds and the possibility of being hit by vehicles tens of times heavier than any human. What the heck was he thinking?
I wasn't speaking of the offices, I was speaking of his home.
He wasn't ......... he's very young.
;-)
It's not nice, but it's true. I've been passed by people going 120. I didn't see them come up on me. Only saw them after they passed. No helmets. If I had moved into their lane, there is no way they wouldn't have hit me or the concrete wall. If you can guarantee that no other driver will do something stupid that you can't avoid, then you don't need a helmet. I have three friends with one short leg from their cycles.
Motorcycles are inherently unsafe on today's roads because no matter how safe you may be, as this accident demonstrates, you will lose vs. a car.
Roethlisberger, by all accounts, had the right of way....doesn't matter....the car driver was uninjured, and he suffered a head injury (which one must presume would have been greatly mitigated if he had been wearing a helmet).
Its not insane to drive w/o a helmet...after all, I may need a organ someday....
Benjamin Roethlisberger was born in Findlay, Ohio on March 3, 1982
You are correct, at least the Rooneys', dont use terms like broads or basically urinating on dead 9/11 husbands graves, to make a buck like ann coulter does.
There is, though it doesn't specify motorcycle riding.
If, for example, he's injured to the extent he can no longer play, his contract will likely be voidable. They'll probably settle it out to keep the PR hounds happy.
Figures that those damn New England Patriots fans would pull something like this to help their team.....
I really hope I don't have to put the /sarc tag here, but lately on FR you never know.
To me that was real sick and base.
I got in a lot of trouble on some threads on that with some oddball Coulter zealots!
;-)
Depending on your age and physical condition, you would have died.
I've seen guys without helmets plow into the back of a car at a (relatively) low rate of speed. You may not get a severe head injury, but its good for a broken jaw and worse. So not only do you need a hemet, but one that protects the entire head (is that what you call full face?).
Not wearing a helmet, even on a bicycle, is stupid.
To me that was real sick and base.

Welcome to the club.
Even though the Rooneys' maybe liberal democrats, they do have something that is woefully missing amongst some of those on the politcally right side of aisle and post incessantly on FR, and that is class.
ann coulter knows not of such a thing.
