Child killer Westerfield told detectives during interrogation, 'My life is over'

SAN DIEGO (AP) Child killer David Westerfield told detectives interrogating him after the disappearance of 7-year-old Danielle van Dam, ''My life is over,'' and he asked the detectives to leave him alone with a gun.

A newly released videotape of the interrogation, conducted three days after Danielle was reported missing, shows Westerfield sitting in a small room fielding questions from two detectives, who pleaded with him at one point to admit to the crime and tell them where to find the girl.

I've been lurking on these Westerfield threads for so long, but when I saw this AP article wasn't posted, I knew it was time to jump in.

It would be naive of me to think that this could persuade any pro-Westerfield folks. But who knows . . .

I saw the tape and what he actually said was My life as " I have known it is over" and of course it was..even if he is innocent..

If he was arrested . . . maybe I could see him feeling that way. But from his point of view, he is just an innocent neighbor being questioned - police rule out possible suspects this way all the time.

Yeah his life is over and it serves that miserable child killing pervert right. Thank God the system works. They're going to put him down like the sick animal that he is.
