Raising children to think they don’t count, their ideas are worthless compared to better ideas from a superior, will do that to people. Kill self-reliance; kill ambition.
Unfortunately that has gone on since the beginning of Judeo-Christian society. Everybody knows overbearing tyrannical and often violent parents whose default is ‘shut up you don’t know anything’ to their children. Johnny Carson was a classic product of that sort of family, he grew up a monster of suppressed rage. After leaving Tonight a man in a parking garage just spoke to him in a friendly way and Carson physically attacked him. Screwed up parents perpetuate their evil from generation to generation.
