I am an engineer and a creationist. Nothing I do depends on evolutionary theory. Everything I do depends on observable science. Nothing I do is left to chance. Everything I do is deliberate and for a purpose.

It is absurd to believe that the circuits I’ve designed, or the programs I write, could be improved by coding errors, copying errors, or random noise injected by mindless agents, like electrical outages and alpha particle bombardment.

If there is no intelligence in nature, then how did intelligence “evolve”? The only answer that Mr. Nye seemed to have for challenges like these is, “That is a great mystery.”

Indeed.

The older I get, the less I believe in a purely literal seven-day creation. I find myself becoming more of a permeationist.

The earth is NOT 6,000 years old. Period.

God left Uranium that’s only 6,000 years old but looks like it’s been there for 4.5 billion years as a practical joke?

I’ve never seen the Bible as a scientific or historical text, but as a guide for my faith. I don’t need two pseudo-scientists battling it out to either believe or not believe. That’s why it’s called faith people. There are unknowns yet we still believe. Faith.

When he gets crucified on false charges, this idiot will understand maybe why historical credit to God is important.

Time is relative. To the guy on the edge of a black hole for instance it seems that only a few seconds passed to enter the black hole where to an outside observer it took many years. I guess it all depends on your point of observation.

Bill Nye the Heresy Guy, huh.

With the small and the great, Bill will find out before the Lord whether the Bible is true or not. For all flesh will be gathered before God in the resurrection and see their Creator.

Those who have believed upon Him by faith, to great joy and reward. But to the others great loss and shame as they will know what has been missed.

I never could understand the interest in how old the Earth is….who cares. The Bible is a book to live your life by. I would think that if more people followed the morals of the Bible, we all would be better off.

People who abuse and twist Scripture in the belief that it was written to teach us science make religion ridiculous.

The real question is whether this side show did what it was intended to do; generate some money for the financially strapped Creation Museum. Time will tell.

I suspect that Ken Ham, Gish, Hovind and others of their ilk have made atheists of more people than Dawkins, Hitchens, Dennett and the like could ever dream of.

Thank God he gave us the choice. Spend our life trying to prove we were created by him, or spend your life trying to prove we weren’t. As for me, and my house........

There are a large percentage of Creationists who do NOT buy into the “young earth” narrative. (6,000 yrs. old)

The Bible makes it clear that to God a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day.

People pretending to be able to age Creation by adding the “7 days” of Creation, to the lifespans in Begats, are kidding themselves.

Not 6000 years. By insisting on something stupid like “6000 years” creationists lose their credibility.

Evolution does NOT explain how man got here, with his superior intelligence. It does NOT explain how life began.

I guess those who deny creation call this angel a liar too:

Rev 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
Rev 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

And this angel:

Rev 10:5 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,
Rev 10:6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:

And God of course lied in Genesis.

And lied here:

Exo 31:17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.

And lied here:

Isa 42:5 Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:

And lied here:

Isa 45:12 I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.

And lied here:

Isa 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.

And lied here:

Jer 27:5 I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me.

That’s only the verses where prophets spoke God’s words. There are many other praises littered throughout the Bible that speak to this issue. Those divinely inspired authors were all lying as well. /sarc

The question is, do we call God a liar or men liars?

Rom 3:3 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
Rom 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

There’s absolutely zero evidence for lifeless chemicals magically springing to life all by themselves. None. That violates the scientific law of biogenesis, which has never been proven wrong. Just as there is zero evidence that a fish became a reptile became a bird, etc. None.

Men only learned to write and farm a few thousand years ago, but that’s all just a huge coincidence. /sarc

All I can say is that I believe that God can not be fully understood by mere mortals.

Trying to communicate the complexity and scope of the creation of the universe to a then (relatively speaking) very simple-minded people is best accomplished through very simple language. I believe that “The Great I Am” purposefully inspired biblical writings to be easily communicated to those simple people.

I believe God uses all the leeway he knows *WE* need to get his points across. Whether seven days of creation was actually seven gazillion eons is not the issue to me. The issue is that if God wants us to know exactly what all happend during creation to include the mechanics and physics of it, he will grant us the capacity to understand it. And he may yet. It doesn’t appear God allowed that level of understanding during this debate.
