The Sun is continuing its rowdy behavior, with flares and coronal mass ejections almost every day since mid-January. That means the inevitable has happened: some of those eruptions have blasted in the general direction of Earth, which means we're in for some solar storms.
The Space Weather Prediction Center of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the British Met Office have both issued advisories for mild and moderate geomagnetic storms over the next couple of days.
That doesn't mean we have anything to worry about; in fact, we've already been hit by mild and moderate geomagnetic storms over the last couple of days, clocking in at G1 and G2 on the five-level solar storm scale.
This level indicates there may be some degradation of high-frequency radio signals at high latitudes, and corrective actions may need to be taken for satellites due to changes in drag. There may be power grid fluctuations, and some disruption to migratory animals' activity. And, if the conditions are right, satellites can be knocked out of the sky.
We may also see an uptick of both aurora borealis and aurora australis.

I thought we were in a ‘Solar Minimum’ for the rest of our days until the Sun burned out?
When did that end? Mid-January? And no one told me?
SCIENCE! ;)
Aurora borealis possible in Kentucky according to the map. That’s incredible.
‘Officials,” synonymous with “experts?”
Quick, let’s pass a law or have Joe sign an executive order to outlaw the Sun.
It’s about time the Sun be held accountable for all the damage it has done to our precious climate. We’re not going to take it anymore!

Again?
I still have a pile of geomagnetic crap i shoveled from the last storm

Anthropogenic climate change for sure.
When they decide to shut down communications and the internet then this type of event may be what they use for an excuse.
Sweet Meteor o’ Death?
Bring it on.
****Again?

I had to switch from a steel shovel to a plastic one because the geomagnetic stuff would just stick so bad.
i hope i don’t reverse polarity
Don’t look up!
Is this why my favorit TV stations have been blurry and flickering from time to time this week even when there is NO airplane or helicopter flying overhead? Or is this why my chromebook suddenly jumped to another link while I tried to write this comment the first time?
