Pray for President Bush - Day 1669
Pray for President Bush ^ | 4/13/05 | kayak

Matthew 5: 14-16

"You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."

Heavenly Father,

We continue to rejoice in the message of Easter and in the hope given to us through the death and resurrection of Your beloved Son. It is a mystery to us that You loved us enough to sacrifice Your Lamb for our sins but we accept the gift of salvation bought so dearly at Calvary. We are grateful for Your forgiveness that we might have fellowship with you. And we ask You to admonish us, to instruct us, and to lead us through each day.

Lord, we pray for our military, who have given much to defend our nation and to bring liberty to others. Even today young men and women are leaving home and heading to hostile lands for a noble cause. Bless them and be their Shield. Others are returning home and having to adjust back into life and family in the States. Help them to make this transition smoothly. Yet others are dealing with injuries and rehabilitation; bring them healing and courage. And we are always mindful of those who made the ultimate sacrifice; hold their families close to Your heart and give them strength and peace.

Lord, we pray, too, for their Commander-in-Chief. Place Your wisdom within President Bush that the decisions he makes might be within Your will. Guide his steps that he might stay on the narrow path of righteousness, for Your Name's sake. Let his faith grow stronger and his witness grow bolder with each passing day. Father, our President has many enemies, both foreign and domestic. We pray for Your protection for him and for his family.

Lord, President Reagan spoke of our beloved nation as a "city that is set on a hill," giving light to all the world. Yet it seems to us that that light has dimmed. The political battles have gotten uglier; the culture of death has taken a stronger hold; immorality and debauchery have become more rampant in the past few decades. Forgive us, Lord. Restore to us the saltiness that helps to preserve Your Word and Your commandments. Instill in us a desire to seek Your will and do to Your bidding that the light may brighten once again and America might once again be known as "one nation, under God." In the Name of Jesus. Amen.

AMEN KAYAK AND AMEN ALL!
GRACE TO YOU BRETHREN!

O my Lord,

Let not my ministry be approved only by men,

or merely win the esteem and affections

of people;

But do the work of grace in their hearts,

call in thy elect,

seal and edify the regenerate ones,

and command eternal blessings on their souls.

Save me from self-opinion and self-seeking;

Water the hearts of those who hear thy Word,

that seed sown in weakness may be raised

in power;

Cause me and those that hear me

to behold thee here in the light of special faith,

and hereafter in the blaze of endless glory;

Make my every sermon a means of grace to myself,

and help me to experience the power

of thy dying love,

for thy blood is balm,

thy presence bliss,

thy smile heaven,

thy cross the place where truth

and mercy meet.

Look upon the doubts and discouragements

of my ministry

and keep me from self-importance;

I beg pardon for my many sins, omissions,

infirmities,

as a man, as a minister;

Command thy blessing on my weak,

unworthy labours,

and on the message of salvation given;

Stay with thy people,

and may thy presence be their portion

and mine.

when I preach to others let not my words

be merely elegant and masterly,

my reasoning polished and refined,

my performance powerless and tasteless,

but may I exalt thee and humble sinners.

O Lord of power and grace,

all hearts are in thy hands,

all events at thy disposal,

Set the seal of thy almighty will

upon my ministry.

A PURITANS PRAYER!

SOLI DEO GLORIA!

"Heavenly father, we bow our heads and thank You for Your love. Accept our thanks for the peace that yields this day and the shared faith that makes its continuance likely. Make us strong to do Your work, willing to heed and hear Your will, and write on our hearts these words: 'Use power to help people' For we are given power not to advance our own purposes, nor to make a great show in the world, nor a name. There is but one just use of power and it is to serve people. Help us to remember it, Lord. Amen."

--George Herbert Walker Bush, Inaugural address, January 1989

Still the same message and prayer today.

Amen, Kayak, in agreement with your heart of love for the Father, our military, our President and our country.

Yes, one nation under God.
