Armed robber has foot amputated in Iran

LONDON, November 30 (IranMania) - An Iranian convicted of armed robbery has had his left foot amputated in a prison in the southwestern city of Ahvaz, the ISNA news agency reported.
The man, identified only as Adel A., had been sentenced by a Revolutionary Court to have his right hand and left foot amputated in public. However only his left foot was cut off on Sunday inside a prison.
Amputations are rare in Iran and usually only handed out to repeat offenders.
The last reported case was in October 2004, when a man convicted of a series of robberies had four fingers on his right hand amputated in public, AFP reported.

Man. "Armed" robber.....amputations "handed" out. This writer must have had fun with this story. He really got a leg up on the others with this one. I'd give my left foot for a job like that.

This kind of punishment has me conflicted.
If someone is a thief , most people would not accept this kind of penalty. But if its a rapist, then you have to think about it.
I wonder if the percentages of rapes would go down if they instituted a "lop it off" policy here in the USA.
I bet just the number of people having consensual sex would go down. You would really have to trust your partner if that was a possible punishment.
But it makes you think....

Good point. Why don't Iranians treat rapist to this same brand of justice? Unfortunately, they kill the girl for 'shaming' the family and the rapist gets to keep his p*nis.
