We have just learned that Daffynition passed away in November. She was a 15 year FReeper, and will be sorely missed. Sending prayers for her family and loved ones.
"She brought so much joy and good cheer to your place [FR]. Never a cross word to anyone ever, always just rolling along with her bright aura of sunshine."
God bless....every single freeper leaves a mark here...prayers.
Sorry to hear this.
Ah, that was lovely. I hope you don’t mind if Daffynition visits my mind, in the same character as she does yours. Many thanks to you and to Mr. Robinson.
RIP.
Thank you for sharing. She must be smiling.
Such a warm heartfelt eulogy! We all know exactly what you mean about constructing an image of a person you never met based on conversations. I remember doing that with radio DJs when I started listening to radio as an early teen. Then, you’d see the DJ at some local in-site broadcasting event at a shopping center or park and find they looked NOTHING like what you had imagined. Perhaps the most famous “invisible” person I had “created” in my mind was Rush Limbaugh. Then he started his TV show and once again here was a friend from afar who didn’t look at all like I thought he would.
That just set me to thinking what it must have been like 200 years ago when there was no photography, primitive newspapers, and no halftone photo printing process. People read about the important people of the day (politicians, ministers/clergy, and generals) and go through their entire lives not having any idea what people looked like. Contrast that today with everybody’s image plastered all over social media in still or movie form for global consumption.
Maybe FR is the last outpost where we can all chat anonymously without knowing what we look like or how we live or behave.
Anyway, here’s to you and Daffynition for stimulating such thoughts this morning. And to Jim for creating our little corner of the world!
Nicely done!
RIP.
That was lovely. Thank you.
So well said, FRiend.
Great post. (86)
