That was the first thing that stuck out at me.
I thought “Fort Liberty? Last time I recall a “Fort Liberty” was sometime during the Revolutionary War, if even then...what and where the hell is a ‘Fort Liberty’ “?

Why didn’t they name it Ft Pope?Ft Bragg already houses Pope AFB, so the name was already taken.

Doesn’t do much good to change the name of something if every article just repeats the old name.
