I take the opposite view. Anything that helps the average citizen of Gaza is bad for Hamas. And yes sure I know Hamas won an election some 20 years ago… but Hamas likely intimidated and bribed their way into power, chased out or killed all dissidents especially the PLO kleptocrats… but has now dragged the entire population into full scale ground war. Whether the people will rise up and oust Hamas remains to be seen, the definitely should and possibly will at some point - but an alternative to Hamas needs to germinate and one part of that is to take away Hamas’ ability to control and intimidate and extort from the people. I don’t like risking US civilians or military in this pier building endeavor, but the pier itself is probably good as part of a longer multi stage attempt to remove Hamas from power and influence.
The population of Gaza supports Hamas the was DC supports democrats. 92% plus.
If you analyze the following undeniable facts and attempt to notice patterns and think critically, you will understand the truth...
Israel wants to control ALL of the territory from the river to the sea.
Over the past 15 years, the culture and accepted norms of the United States have changed drastically in the direction of accepting foreign immigrants. Now that the Demographics have completely shifted (as seen with the college riots), that sentiment is fully engrained.
Egypt WILL NOT accept the Gazan’s into their territory.
Israel would not allow 10’s or 100’s of Gazans to transit across their territory and even if they did...Syria, Lebanon and Jordan would not allow any Gazans in.
There are dozens of different strategies for getting supplies into Gaza in a controlled way other than building this pier.
The only theoretically possible way to get 10’s or 100’s of thousands of Gazans OUT of Gaza would be using a pier just like this and commercial or military vessels to transport them to another accepting country.
Nikki Haley and a number of Democrats have already advocated bringing the Gazans here.
