Pentagon sending Ukraine $6B in military aid — the largest package ever — with critical missile defenses

WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced Friday that the US is sending Ukraine its largest aid package to date — worth $6 billion — that will include munitions for Patriot missile defense systems that Kyiv has said could change the course of the war, but not the systems themselves.

The massive package comes just two days after a separate $1 billion tranche for Ukraine was announced upon President Biden signing a $95 billion foreign aid supplemental funding bill into law.

“The announcements this week underscore America’s enduring commitment to Ukraine’s defense,” Austin said after a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, held virtually from the Pentagon.

It is crazy though how many people in the center and the left actually extol Reagan as one of the greats.

“Every effort they made was met with insult, disdain, and exploitation.”

And lots of money.

It was enormous foreign investments (and tech) that gave Russia the petroleum and gas production infrastructure that has been the basis of its economy over the last 20 years.

Russia (Putin really) reacted to Russias new prosperity by becoming an international d******d.

Yes...and I think most don’t even know why they support the Ukraine. Biden told them so, and that’s enough for them. If only they showed the same level of disdain for I don’t know, a country that really CAN hurt us, China.

Just off the top of my head, they opened the KGB archives wide open for US researchers and authors. They remained completely open for years. Those documents confirmed among other things the Venona Cables and the guilt of the Rosenburgs. When wildfires were about to overrun Los Alamos New Mexico they offered their giant air tankers before we had the 747s in service. But they “didn’t meet USFS standards”.
When 9/11 happened, they were the first nation to call Bush. And it wasn’t just thoughts and prayers. They offered us advice on Afghanistan, free use of old Soviet air bases. No leases, no contract, just show up and fly. They even were providing the fuel. Then they opened the northern supply route when our “allies” the Pakistanis closed off the ports and roads. We could sail into Baltic ports and use Russian rail to supply our forces in Afghanistan.
When the Iranian missile threat started worrying us, we wanted to build an aegis missile interceptor site in Poland and Romania. They asked to contribute and join it as they have massive experience in AA missiles and radars and Moscow would also be protected.... we refused.
They asked to join NATO, we refused.
They were a solid partner in taking us to space for about 15 years while we were out of the game after the shuttle.
They disbanded the old cold war army down to 10% of it’s late 80s size.
In the 90s they let our “experts” run wild in their economy and their elections.
When Notre Dame burned, they offered their church rebuilding experts to restore it... again, ignored.
When they saw the Boston bombers get training in Dagestan, they repeatedly warned the FBI..... who flipped them the finger.
They based their economy on trade, exporting fertilizers, and powering Germany with vast amounts of cheap gas. Despite our attacks on their pipeline and payment systems they still deliver gas.
They placed hundreds of billions of gold and cash on deposit in western and US banks.
They released the secret archives on Katyn Forest. Putin was the first Russian leader to admit it was a Soviet murder. He released the signed order from Stalin to a shocked Poland. They build a monument to the dead Poles and were dedicating it when the Polish presidential plane crashed. Putin had the Polish made movie “Katyn” shown on all public TV channels in Russia after the crash.
Last but not least, they have rebuild countless churches and cathedrals destroyed by the Bolsheviks.

They made an honest effort.
But DC, NATO and military industry NEEDS an enemy.
And the our bankers wanted to loot Russia again the way they did in the 90s.

I cannot think of an instance where we accepted any of their overtures in good faith and not in a spirit of cynicism and exploitation.

What can I say, annoying narcissistic people is a hobby of mine.
Disregard and put down their false sense of superiority and they get upset.

As a guy whose career was doing infrastructure “investments” (project management in the energy indusry), you sound loopy.

LOL. And you sound like a ridiculous propagandist

Any more US-neocon "investment" in Ukraine, and everyone will be dead and the country will be a smoldering ruin

Please tell me what company you do "investments" for, so I can short their stock.

And it is the anti-Ukraine gang that has taken up the “Military-Industrial Complex” rhetoric that also impedes an arms buildup oriented towards China.

You guys are simply incoherent.

The guy who started the ball rolling in re arming Ukraine, in Feb 2022, was actually President Duda of Poland. It is US self-absorption to think that all this was a US thing.

A rather selective set of points.

It leaves out mentioning the bulk of this stuff was from the 1990s Russian government (Yeltsin).

And that a lot of it was in pursuit of money-making opportunities, such as launch services. Russia wasnt doing this out of love.

One of my favorite bad-faith debate tactics I often hear is: "why do you refuse to answer the question?"

“One of my favorite bad-faith debate tactics I often hear is: “why do you refuse to answer the question?”

It CAN be a bad faith tactic in debate. Typically it requires something like a simple Yes/No on a broad or complex question.

In this case however, in the sense of the infrastructure (the correct word) of the US military, you are quibbling, because you dont like my argument. You are attempting to dismiss it by objecting to the use of the word “infrastructure”. That is dirty pool.
