It was the first suicide attack in Israel in six weeks, and came after Israel turned down a Palestinian offer to halt attacks on civilians as the first stage of a gradual truce.Just for the record, Israeli settlers in the territories -- including women, the elderly, children and babies -- are consider to NOT be "civilians" by the Pallie barbarians.

Is it true that the family of a suicide bomber gets $30,000???
If so then think about it- that is probably equivalent to a half a million bucks here- How many people RIGHT HERE in the USofA would be happy to blow themselves to bits if they knew their mom would recieve a half mil....
That is why these people are so happy their children do this- it is like winning the lottery. Payments for suicide bombers must be stopped even if you have to just take it away from them -AND then bulldoze their house...

ARMY RADIO said the bomber apparently detonated his explosives prematurely when he saw police approaching him.
Witness Mohammed Akbariyeh said he was sitting in a restaurant near the bus stop when the blast went off.
“Suddenly, we heard a huge explosion. The ground just flew upward. We ran to the spot. We saw a police car which had been damaged from the rear. One policeman wounded and another man also wounded. The body of the terrorist was simply cut in two,” he told Israel Radio.
There was no claim of responsibility for the attack. Over the past month, Yasser Arafat and other Palestinian leaders, as well as his Fatah movement, have spoken out against suicide bombings and called for a halt to attacks inside Israel, but the radical groups, including Hamas and Islamic Jihad, have rejected the calls. |

David Baker, an official in Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s office, said that “Palestinian terrorists have once again set out on a bloodletting of the Israeli public.”

In earlier violence on Wednesday, Israeli troops killed an armed Palestinian and wounded a second man in the West Bank village of Tamoun after they tried to run soldiers down with a car and fire on them, the army said.
Tamoun Mayor Bashar Vaniode said the men were ambushed. He said the dead man, Tariq Basharat, 24, was wanted by Israel and was active in the Al Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade, a militia linked to Fatah.
In the West Bank town of Izzariyeh, the burned body of a 67-year-old Israeli man was found in a garbage dump. Police said they believed he was killed by Palestinian militants. The man’s family reported him missing Tuesday. |

Things were just too quiet. That sucks. Find the responsible's family, deport them, and destroy their homes. How about find those who were responsible, locate their families and homes, and destroy the entire neighborhood with a precision-guided 2000 pounder in the dark of night while the families are inside asleep? I mean, are we talking serious deterents or not?
