Prospects of raising the state income tax on the richest New Jerseyans are getting a boost from three Republican lawmakers who say they'll back the plan if the extra dollars are used to increase state aid to towns and growing school districts.

I guess I've been around here for about 5 years or so now. Time sure flies!

When Jim Robinson started this site, it was because he was fed up with the liberal media, and how they would not let people worldwide know about the corruption of the Clinton Administration. A few of us, equally concerned, (with great luck) found it fast.

In the early days, FR was a day-to-day operation, always on the brink of bankruptcy. Jim kept on, and we chipped in when it became too much. We knew how important this site was, and is. Sometimes, it came down to the wire, and we wrote checks, and sent them in, as best we could.

Look at it now. We all get our best information from this site. It is huge, with thousands of posters, and millions of readers. Yet Jim still keeps it alive because of his conviction, and he is absolutely NOT making a profit on it. He just believes. As do we.

BTW, did you know that the founder of this site is in a wheelchair (sorry Jim; I know you think it doesn't make a r*ts a$$ difference. Hey, some folks out there need to come down a peg, like I have.).

Think of it! In the darkest days of the Clinton Administration, there was a lone internet site where people with integrity, brains, and sheer gumption could discuss the dangers faced by the US. Not on CNN, for sure.

Earthmovers like Drudge, Ann Coulter, Rush, WFBuckley, his brother, Savage, Buchanan, both houses of Congress (many) check in to see what we think.

The opposition checks it out, too. Like the NY times staff, CNN, etc. Trust me, they all come here to read. Even YOUR post. You know by now how they are whining about Rush? We're next, as soon as they figure out how they can trash this site without it getting a million hits.

I've been broke; I've been not broke. I've slept in my car. I know how it feels to be squeezed tight with bills. Folks with giant bills: You're not alone, and you have friends here. :)

If you love this site as much as I do, please, please sign up for automatic payment of just $3 per month. Don't be embarrassed if you think this is too little. It absolutely is not. You $3 a month folks are our grassroots movement heroes. Be proud. Become one of the thousand points of light here, and you will so feel proud every month. We'll thank you for it, and are so glad to have you on board.

I know things are rough out there. But you are tough, and a member of the greatest grassroots freedom movement in 100 years. Together we are making history, and will change the world, as we already have. The best is yet to come.

Most countries out there would consider this website illegal. They hate us, for our freedom. Their systems cannot stand, in the face of Freedom. The people there read us when they can, when they are “allowed” to, and are not being tortured. They flock to us, America, because they want to be free. Help us help them.

Would you please, please consider signing up for just $3 a month? Please? That’s all it takes, really, believe it or not. You will make a world of difference, to, well, the world. Be proud, Americans, and please help out!

Moran, a nine-term lawmaker, said he would support only a temporary income tax increase -- perhaps for two or three years -- on higher income earners, and only if the money is used to provide extra funds to municipalities and growing school districts.

LOL!!!

Temporary and only on the rich just like they pretended when first implementing the Federal Income tax.

New Jersey's Republicans are bred to the bone RINOs. There's not a dime's worth of difference between them and the Democrats and the public knows it.

I used to work in Camden (thank God I live in PA), and I always used to think that there should be a sign at the middle of the Ben Franklin bridge reading:

YOU ARE LEAVING THE AMERICAN SECTOR
WELCOME TO THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF NEW JERSEY

North Jersey is dragging South Jersey, kicking and screaming, into a Marxist-Leninist Utopia. Seriously.

Property taxes there are indeed insane. My aunt and uncle pay $12,000/year in South Orange (yup, 12 G's a year). It's so bad that two towns are trying to secede from their county, but the county will never let them go because they can steal far more money from them than they can get from the other towns.

If they raise the income tax, you might see a ton of people flock to PA, where the property tax is a flat 2.8%. I know, Philly just forced Ed Rendell into the governorship, but with the GOP controlling both houses he won't be doing any damage anytime soon ;)

The three lawmakers are the first Republicans to publicly entertain the possibility of an income tax increase to help ease the state's budget crunch. >>>>>>

Is Paul Mulshine Ever so right!!http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/822757/posts And I bet these guys didn't support Schundler either. What's a true, conscientious, voting republican to do in 2003?

Paul Mulshine.
>>>>If you're looking for the reason the Republicans are doing so well nationally and so poorly in New Jersey, look no further. Our Republicans govern exactly like Democrats. So why not vote Democratic?>>>>

Why not?

LOL, New Jersey is corrupt to the core, owned lock, stock, and barrel by the education mafia. The people there think it's cool. New Jersey has no true GOP to speak of, the second amendment was abolished there, and the parasites and pigs are in charge. It's a Democrat state forever.

The South Jersey shore is a nice place to visit in the summer, and the casinos are fun once in a while, but other than that my recommendation is to stay away from the place. It's dangerous.

You are wrong. Northern Jersey--Warren, Sussex, and western Passaic County, are all solid GOP territory. I would dare say the most conservative GOPers in the state come from Sussex County. We just sent Scott Garrett to the US Congress. In fact, according to the most recent census statistics, Sussex County is 4-1 GOP. Good people. Salt of the earth. NJ has high taxes/socialists because we have a lot of urban areas--blue zones. It's that simple. Urban areas=liberals.

Property taxes there are indeed insane. My aunt and uncle pay $12,000/year in South Orange (yup, 12 G's a year). It's so bad that two towns are trying to secede from their county, but the county will never let them go because they can steal far more money from them than they can get from the other towns.

Their taxes are high because they are in Essex County. They have to pay the social services and police and fire etc for Newark, Irvington, East Orange, Orange, etc. In other words, they share a county (and borders) with some of the worst ghettos in the state. Then again, people live in towns like S. Orange so that they can be closer to NYC in an affluent neighborhood. It's the price you pay for the life you choose.

If they raise the income tax, you might see a ton of people flock to PA, where the property tax is a flat 2.8%.

No you won't. PA doesn't have the jobs to support all those people. People live in high taxed areas of NJ like S. Orange, W. Orange, Montclair, Short Hills, etc so they can have a short trip to NYC, where the $$$ jobs are. You are not going to see a flood of affluent professionals to Scranton any time soon.

Yeah, we are so jealous of Arlen Spector. If only we could live up to PA's shining example.

I have to agree with you. I just moved to Sussex county (from Essex) and man what a difference. If only the whole state could be like Sussex county.

You are not going to see a flood of affluent professionals to Scranton any time soon.

Although two people in my Morris county office do come from the Shawnee area of PA you are right, you aren't going to see a flock of people moving there anytime soon.

Let's get down to brass tax. Any form of taxation is theft and extortion. Let's have a sales tax on the national, state and local level. What I make, where I live and all other aspects of my life is just nobody's damn business.

Thanks for the response. I fight smoking (I'm constantly quitting and taking it up again) and I drink too much beer. Who's fault is that. MINE. I hit 60 years old later this year. I'm going to be one lean, mean, heathy guy on my next birthday. You've got to get down and tough with yourself to maintain health and happiness. We all have our devils but the onus is on all of us to control them.

Amen.
