KUWAIT CITY (AP)--Kuwaiti security authorities have foiled an attempt to smuggle $60 million worth of chemical weapons and biological warheads from Iraq to an unnamed European country, a Kuwaiti newspaper said Wednesday.
The pro-government Al-Siyassah, quoting an unnamed security source, said the suspects had been watched by security since they arrived in Kuwait and were arrested "in due time." It didn't say when or how the smugglers entered Kuwait or when they were arrested.
The paper said the smugglers might have had accomplices inside Kuwait. It said Interior Minister Sheik Nawwaf Al Ahmed Al Sabah would hand over the smuggled weapons to an FBI agent at a news conference, but didn't say when.
Government officials couldn't be immediately reached for comment.
Iraqi Interior Minister Nouri Al-Badran met Tuesday with Sheik Nawwaf and discussed cooperation between the two countries in security matters. His visit is the first by an Iraqi interior minister to Kuwait since 1990.

I'm with you boycott. I ALWAYS wait until the PROOF is in the pudding. It sounds promising.. but lets wait and see. It just sounds "odd" that they are going to turn it over to the FBI?
Everyone gets all worked up when we have trucks or things that look like WMD vans, containers, etc. Lets just wait this out. When it "IS" it "IS". Otherwise it is just "HYSTERICS".
I'll pop the ole champagne bottle (so to speak) when I KNOW for a fact it is a done deal.
I am praying along with the rest of the gang. The day WILL COME,.. but I'm a patient person just like our President.

Let me clarify that even one step further.. "They are going to turn 60 Million dollars of Chemical and Biological Weapons over to a Lone FBI Agent?".
Seems kind of strange to me.. but it DID come from the AP. So we'll see. I hope I'm wrong.. can't think of a time I'd be happier to be wrong.

They don't realize we come to places like this because we know THEY aren't reliableExactly. Unlike the lame stream press, when some one posts something that is full of B.S., people jump all over them. On balance Freepers are concerned with the truth, and collectivly we have a huge knolledge base and a lot of research power.

Doesn't take them very long to start with the weasel words does it?
But they were sure right about that dumb California recall petition not going anywhere...no wait, well they were sure right about it being all Republicans who were signing it...no wait, well at least they were sure right about Cruz really leading Arnold in the polls...not wait...

OK, It's now 8 am Thursday and I'm not hearing anything on this from the lamestream media. Where's the buzz? What's up with this story?
To: Lee'sGhost
Haven't heard hide nor hare of it so far... just on here. Same goes for when they found those mobile trailers with chemicals in them.... also what about the nuclear facility they found that had their geiger counters going off the chart? Never heard nothing more?
Were all these things just hoaxes, or buried and not reported by the media so as to make GWB look bad?
To: Lee'sGhost
If this were during the clinoon admin, this story would have topped the Leak, Rush, and Arnie on the cover of the NTY and CNN. No doubt.

Just checked the two Kuwait news sources in English - not a peep....
Must just have been some bad reporting on the dow jones or the india site?

Anyone hear anything more?

Nope - this thing is going nowhere fast.
Another false path, I fear...

Drudge has posted it now. It slows is gaining traction. The story isn't a closed loop just yet. If someone wants to put the tinfoil hat on and doubt it completely, logical room still remains to do so.
Kuwait foils smuggling of chemicals, bio warheads from Iraq

WASHINGTON - Already shaken by the furore over the leak of a CIA operative's identity, the Bush administration is bracing for more fall-out from the Iraq invasion from a report due tomorrow that will confirm the failure to find any weapons of mass destruction - the main justification advanced for the war last March. I don't believe that that's what Kay's report says. This is the media's preemptive strike against the Kay report, which will, I believe, say that:
1. This is a preliminary report of what they've found SO FAR;
2. They have an incredibly large amount of documentary evidence of an active WMD program;
3. They have not recovered any stockpiles of actual WMD yet.

Good question. If the story was bogus I'd've expected an exasperated denial along the lines of "You idiots really believe this stuff?", but since all we've gotten is silence...
