You won't get any refutation from the brain dead who weigh in on anything posted from LRC.

Aren't you the one who is an expert on Rush Limbaugh even though you admit never having listened to him?

I've gotten lots of insults and blanket statements that DeCoster is wrong, but no one has specifically refuted anything DeCoster has said yet. Some one asked who was occupying Ga though - showing a little though anyway. Liberals, statists and government sponsored parasites is my answer, although you might have a better one

And who would that be

Bush obviously. A popular leader can get away with a lot more than an unpopular one.

Hope you enjoy both of your senators working hard to destroy the Bill of Rights.

Hey, pin-head. I'm a NYer and think our Senators are scum. However, in terms of "Bill of Rights," you twist the truth.

You should go to the far east and live north of the 38th parallel with your Korean pals. On the way, pick up Hanoi Jane and Hillary Clinton. Bubba can outfit you with nice green uniforms with Red Stars, and a few dozen AK-47s really cheap from his Chinese friends. This way you can shoot patriotic Americans on the way.

Of course, Algore would deny any knowledge of this because he takes a piss after drinking too much iced tea when he's entertaining his pals at a Buddhist Temple.

If you don't like this country, get out! If you have something to contribute, spend a week working on removing a billion tons of rubble from the WTC.

Don't let all these cheap shots get to you. FR is now the home of party politics and the "cult of personality". Many of these people would cheerfully march into the ovens as long as it were Bush calling cadence. Like the Pope and the Catholic Church,Bush and the Republican Party are to followed without question.

Communication is impossible unless we ascribe to a speaker's or author's words their usual and customary meanings, absent some textual or behavioral evidence to the contrary, such as that the speaker is a lawyer or a propagandist. So, either comminication is impossible, in which case why are you bothering with this post, or else Ms de Coster or you owe us a clear demonstration that Bush uses the words he uses with the meanings that Ms de Coster has given them rather than otherwise.

We have little evidence that Bush is a propagandist. It is quite evident on the other hand that you and Ms de Coster are propagandists, and therefore, we have to assume that until we can commit the text to further analysis, her meanings and your meanings are suspect. not happened, we must assume that it is your belief that verbal communication is impossible.

It seems obvious to me that she wrote it an a somewhat controversial manner to get a reaction. The main point of her article that the feds are using the attack of 9/11 to spread their unconstitutional powers further is obvious to all except to most unaware.

If you don?t like this country, get out!

Why should I or anyone who doesn’t like what is going on get out? I was born here!
Blind trust will damage our country far worse than any healthy skepticism can.

If you have something to contribute

What, the thousands I pay in taxes ain’t enough for you, now you want tacit approval too?

"That would be nice if it were true, but then I guess the current move in Kongress to add a bunch of additional information to drivers' licenses so as to use them as de facto internal passports is just paranoid imaginings."

You're confusing two things, a bunch of make-believe blatherings from Lewrockwell and specific actions proposed in Congress. Considering the fact that Congress includes a wide cross-section of political philosophies, the fact that some have proposed a national id card is not surprising. When has GW supported these proposals?

"I guess that having fighter jets being given the authorization to shoot down civilian airliners, yet steadfastly refusing to arm the pilots or allowing passengers with carry licenses to stay arms is not statism."

Arming pilots is a good idea that is supported by many. Allowing your typical passenger to carry guns on a passenger plane is not. I've seen too many instances of stupid and careless gun handling to support that. Now, if you want to talk about allowing those who have passed a rigorous training program to carry weapons, that's another thing entirely. But, that would amount to federal licensing, something I doubt either of us support.

More people murdered and enslaved by thier own gov't

True, but those Governments are not ours. They started with no Constitution or Bill of Rights as we did. They never had the freedoms we have and mean to hold on to.

I agree that this author doesn't seem to understand the nature of the conflict (war) in which we are involved. Make no mistake, it is a fight to the death. Bin Ladin's death will unleash other terrorists hell bent on destroying us. Had we decided like Clinton, to give him another virtual pass they still would have continued to attack. At least, with Bin Laden gone they know what is going to happen.

I would like to thank you for an excellent post. It seems after reading the reponses, that it might have struck a discordant note with the subjects to the EMPIRE. How dare we question what Congress is doing!! What? Should we start a schedule three times a day bowing to the east, the 'holy' city of Washington? They already take over 40% of my money. Mindless sheep have their President now and how dare we question him!! I honestly used to be a big GWB supporter, but from the statements and actions lately all I've seen is a moral version of Klintoon. Give up your liberties and rights all in the name of 'safety'!!

From deep in the EMPIRE,

Subject to the STATE,

That is a very good subject on which to write an article, but that is not what Ms de Coster wrote or wrote about. What she wrote was a "translation" of Mr. Bush's speech. Since she appears to be using a different dictionary from the rest of us, some explanation is in order. She gave us none. Other than a supposed translation, she wrote about nothing.
