One time when I was a Marine in the Med we were in the vicinity so I took a week of leave and went to Florence primarily to see the Uffizi. There was too much to see and comprehend although I went there every day (though not, of course, all day long) and I have longed to go back there and spend more time. Hard to imagine they have more in reserve!I liked the Uffizi and Florence much better than Rome or Athens. Who can say that something is the best there is, but who wouldn't put the Uffizi right up there with the best of them anywhere and anytime.

I believe I once read that the Uffizi was one of the best five art museums in Europe. I don't remember then all but the Hermitage was the only one I had not seen. I thought the Uffizi the best of those I had.

Thanks for sharing the memories of Italy. Yes, I'd go back there in a heartbeat.
