I think GW is smart to move so quickly. And, Simon may just beat Davis.

It is amazing that I have seen no public polls on a race this important. And you won't so long as the poll numbers are favorable to Simon. I'm surprised the liberal media don't just make up some numbers and put them on the air.
They called Florida prematurely in 2000 to derail the Republicans and it almost worked. I'd be surprised if they don't try it here.

The ONLY reason I oppose Lazio is that he MOCKED my country's Constitution. How pray tell did he do that? Was it anything like Clinton making a recess appointment of Bill Lann Lee to Solicitor General after he had been rejected by the Senate? Or the illegal break-in to kidnap Elian Gonzalez?

What does that have to do with this thread? Absurd.

Bumper stickers are a very effective means of campaigning--worth several hundred dollars of free advertising...IF they are placed on cars and don't end up just sitting on someone's table or filed away in a drawer and forgotten about.

Correct. Simon will have himself defined rather than having Davis define him. Davis made a blunder by wasting time and resources on trying to define Riordan, who did not end up being his opponent after all.

And you won't so long as the poll numbers are favorable to Simon. I kind of suspect that myself. In that case, let's look forward to no polls on the California gubernatorial campaign at all!

Would a win by Simon really mean Bush would carry the state? No. However it would introduce a large enough element of doubt that Democrats would no longer be able to take California for granted. They might have to expend resources to make sure California remains safely Democratic.
Bush could win California in 2004, but only if he remains so enormously popular that he sweeps virtually every state in the union. In which case California would be irrelevant anyway.

Glad to, but I am back in Florida, for the time being I'll be working for Jeb, and supporting Simon from afar. I think I did a little something by co-creating the term DIABLO, though.
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
LOL!
Keep it up and I may choose to vote for you in the next presidential election year.

To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
Jim normally bans me. I am black&blue from his assertions.

At the very least it would force the Dem candidate(Hillary) to spend more time and resources on California.
To: ElkGroveDan
Thanks for the ping, Dan. I would like to see an independent poll, though. Maybe the mainstream (read: liberal) pollsters are afraid to touch this one for fear of finding out the truth!

I'm seriously considering donating to his campaign. I don't think a bumper sticker would do me much good, though, considering I'm a Texan. For some reason, I'm following this race as close as if it were my own state. I guess because California usually is the start of trends, and I think we have a chance to really reawaken the party here. If Simon wins, that shows we don't have to sell out to the RINO's to take a center-left state. It would be a major victory in the war against the RINO's.
I refuse to give in to cynicism or pessimism like so many on this forum. Maybe I might end up disappointed a time or two, but at least I'll know that I tried. Predicting failure pretty much guarantees it. I won't accept failure that easily.
To: Tumbleweed_Connection
This will put California into play, even a Simon loss might elect more Republicans down ballot!
