I think that the Kali legislature (all dem) will pass this nickel tax easily. What we think will have zip to do with it.

the concept of an "ammo tax" is the manner in which the gun grabbers are going to put most of us out of the sport.

These idiots don't realize they may get it back in the form of the one bullet rebate.

Dunno. But I am gonna buy him some golfballs, just to find out.

LOL.

GREAT Idea!

Is that really true or an urban legend that Perata has a CCW?

if it is, he needs to be called on it as a hypocrite of the highest degree.

I never thought of that. We were out at the farm this weekend, and I told my dad that the .22 was the best (physical) gift he ever gave me - I loved it as a kid, and my kid is burning it up. I passed it on.

My dad gets smarter every year...

Forget it.

Any amount of powder more than a thimble full will be classified as "bomb making material", and will be outlawed before the bullets.

I believe it to be true, but can't prove it. I have asked one of the NRA member council leaders in Alameda county (where perata is from) about it today, and that is the information he gave me. He also said that he allowed the permit to lapse for a while, but has renewed it. Where he came by it, I don't know. Perata is a good friend of the sheriff. Almost nobody else in the county has a CCW.

Have you seen those self resetting steel spinner targets they sell in www.sportsmansguide.com?

That looks like a great birthday gift for a 13 year old, along with a few bricks!

Perata is a good friend of the sheriff. Almost nobody else in the county has a CCW.

That's about how it works in most third world dictatorships and many American counties.

As I understand the article, Perata is trying to get this on the ballot in the form of a proposition in November. There could be unanimity among the general assembly, but it wouldn't become enforcable until if/when it's passed by the referendum.

Works the same way in Contra Costa county where I live. If you're a buddy of the sheriff, and contribute to her re-election campaign, you've got one. Gasp! Is that corrupt?!

Ammunition is one thing that you can buy out of state - no doubt other posters have pointed that out already.

It sure is about fun, making tin cans dance, popping balloons, all of it. A .22 is the most fun for the money there is!

Like it says, I know my way to Reno. Now instead of just getting my smokes, I'll get my ammo there too.

How will the tax apply to reloaders?

Reloading will go the way of the T-Rex as another "loophole".

Plus, gunpowder itself will soon be banned for private purchase as "bomb making material".
