Two observations:

1) Century Plaza Hotel - note, you folks who are not familiar with LA - this hotel is in Century City on the west side of LA (build on the old back-lot of 20th Century Fox) it is the "high rent" office district of LA and the hotel is one of the more expensive hotels in LA - not the "working people's" hangout.

2)"the New York Democrat joined DOZENS of elected officials and prominent business entrepreneurs..." Dozens could be...like...24, it isn't hundreds, nor is it thousands. Gray Out is not in need of cash - he has been one of the most prolific fundraisers as a sitting governor in California history - what he needs is votes! Neither Rodham-Clinton nor "dozens" of supporters will help him much in that matter.

No,but the "walking around money (pesos) the DNC can supply combined with "motor voter" can take care of that.

The lowest room rate for the Century Plaza Hotel is $265, which I believe puts it into the upper-middle ranks of hotels.

A true luxury hotel in Los Angeles would be the Four Seasons, which starts at $390 a night. Since Century City is closer to Beverly Hills than downtown, it might be better compared to the Regent Beverly Wilshire, at a paltry $375 a night and up (and up and up - the highest room rate it would give me was $900 a night, and their 3,500 square foot Presidential Suite is presumably not available at the moment, but far, far more expensive if it was.)

This is dangerous ground anyway, because I'm sure Bill Simon stays in a very nice luxury hotel wherever he travels, therefore helping create jobs for the fine people who run luxury hotels.

Let 'em stay wherever they want. The valid reason to criticise them is to comment on how they perform, and I daresay both Davis and Clinton have much to answer on that subject.
