Hate to be a pessimist but I believe Oracle will fade, but then I think the cal-power crisis is a far bigger scandal.

Funny how none of the reporters ever manage to ask any of the Davis folks if they or their families have been buying Oracle stock or options over the last two years...

What we need to do is talk to everyone responsible for signing on on this deal, and find out their individual reasons for the pressure.
As a general rule, I'm inclined to believe that this deal was simply spectacular ineptitude -- but that opens a question that in my mind is even more serious than corruption: The thought that Gray Davis showed such poor judgement as to hire someone this dumb in an important position.
I'd actually rather have someone in government who was mildly corrupt but knew what he was doing than to be governed by idiots who have no clue. And both the power crisis and budget crisis make me feel that the latter is the case.
