SACRAMENTO - A former top state official who worked on the Oracle deal admitted Wednesday that he was told while the state negotiated the controversial contract that the software company planned to give Gov. Gray Davis a campaign contribution.

Arun Baheti, the former director of e-government, said that after the contract was signed, an Oracle lobbyist passed him a $25,000 check during drinks at a capital restaurant where the two men also discussed state contracts.

``He discusses the Oracle contract and other policy issues and then accepts a sealed envelope with a campaign contribution,'' said Assemblyman Rod Pacheco, a Riverside Republican who grilled Baheti for more than an hour Wednesday evening. ``If that's not criminal, it should be.''

This Assemblyman should get accolades!

Norm, this was a great find.

Ernest thanks for the ping from the other thread. Please do you magic pinging thing.

Of course this underlying of Davis did this to enrich himself. Of course the check was made out to the ReElect Fascist Davis Bribe Fund, which he got nothing!

Of course Enron made Davis do it! When did GW know about this? It's Cheney's fault and probably Abe Lincoln is guilty here too?

Did the pinging thing along with the banner!

OC Register paper had a great cartoon the other day regarding Davis and the California Taxpayers. I'll see if I can find it on the website!

I really need to call Ravi. He has never struck me as dishonest but they are sure trying to paint him that way.

If you work for Whoreacle or you are a lobbyist for them, you would be better off with a record of illegal drug selling and being busted as pimp.

Baheti is the scapegoat. He's the sacrifical lamb. Whatever you want to call him, he's being sacrificed in an attempt to save Davis' career.

Dump Davis!

Pascal Fervor-FReeper inquiry desired

Introduction:

Pascal Fervor is a human condition which we will investigate and, with the desire to nurture its continuance, celebrate. It's been named, in an honorable reference, for the verve, inquisitiveness, determination and loyalty that drove the seventeenth century mathematician, inventor, engineer, thinker, political critic and (many in our time would have you think this discrediting) deeply spiritual man, Blaise Pascal. In keeping with the commitment needed for this project, your host has adopted the name Pascal Fervor. Pray e will be worthy.

Pascal lived less than forty years. Still, he left a significant impact on the course of history. You will come to see that when one recalls the phrase "the pen is mightier than the sword," one could justly consider that the author had a someone like Pascal in mind.

It can be shown, and we intend to demonstrate, that Pascal was so effective in the long run that those who would rule the world today may wish he never existed. Why? Because he is your friend and their enemy. He shows you what one man can achieve against overwhelming odds. And how delightfully ironic that is! As the founder of the rules of probability, I doubt he would have given himself very good chances going in. He just did it.

Should you be afflicted with this fervor, and there are many more of you than you are supposed to think, this site is dedicated to you. That's the point.

When you are low, and think you are cursed, this site intends to remind you that, in you, the world had also been blessed. May it sustain you in your travails.

Thank you and welcome.

FReepers have Pascal Fervor

"The redirected drive that was impassioned in one of history's greatest minds, Blaise Pascal, when he found his creations being misused; a calling to defend one's intellectual honesty and purpose that repeatedly confronts creative minds. This we call: Pascal Fervor"

I am a lobbyist but it should be obvious by my handle that it is not for Oracle. I had a cleaning business in a previous life and Ravi was a client.

I know who you are and what side your are on.

Your former client Ravi is now labelled with the Whoreacle Odor. He may be a very honest man, however, he has been painted by this mess.
