SACRAMENTO - When the California Legislature began its probe of the state's botched Oracle software contract in April, lawmakers pronounced themselves determined to uncover why state officials signed a deal that could cost taxpayers millions.

But nearly two months of hearings have revealed as much about the inner workings of the Legislature as about the administration of Gov. Gray Davis. The contentious inquiry, scheduled to wrap up this week, has exposed the Capitol's web of loyalties and rivalries as lawmakers scramble to boost political futures, protect allies and outmaneuver opponents.

This is very interesting ... Florez is running for Senate, and has always pretending to be a "moderate" Democrat, even to the extent of supporting a conservative pro-life Democrat in a primary to replace him in the Assembly (who lost to a very, very liberal Latina.) I'm sure a lot of the flak he is receiving is because he went up against the liberal Democrat establishment in an expensive and high-profile Democrat primary -- and lost.

Cohn and Keeley are protecting Davis because they know if Davis gets in trouble, Davis will become more vulnerable than he already is. Davis is a corrupt politician, and they are protecting one of their own simply because he is one of their own.

My question is, can Florez withstand the pressure? I think that he answers to Burton -- if Burton wanted to ease up on Davis, Florez would ease up on Davis. Afterall, Florez is going to the Senate next year and Burton is no fan of Davis.

This is very interesting ...

I love it when it's the Democrats fighting instead of the Republicans!

Dump Davis!
