Davis is over the barrel on this issue. If he signs it he will alienate the rank and file. If he vetoes it the liberals will go ballistic.

Not in an election year..

I think Davis would be safe to veto this piece of garbage..

On the one hand, It contrasts him with simon and hits little people in their pocketbooks. Bad move. It also hands Simon another huge stick to beat him over the head with.

OTOH, what are the enviroweenies gonna do? Vote for Simon? Stay home and watch Simon win? He's got them all sewed up by default.

Kind of like the Conservative vote actually..
