Thanks for the ping!
Will read this later in depth, looks like an excellent article!

Do you also post stereotyped images of inbred hicks in smaller Southern states, or are you one those children of Dixie who recoil at the "bigoted" view of the Yankee, all the while spewing how much you hate Kali?
To: Ernest_at_the_Beach
When you have the time you will enjoy this, it has a positive tone that will encourage California conservatives.
To: ElkGroveDan
Only a "shitty little state" like Cali could be home to cities like Berkely and Arcata, which are openly socialist jokes.
Cali sucks liberal wanker so much I left.
Only, like the idiot I'm apt to sometimes be, I moved to Washington.
To: Psycho_Bunny
Only, like the idiot I'm apt to sometimes be, I moved to Washington. That's because you are a Psycho Bunny. We have friends that live about 30 miles from Seattle, they say sometimes it rains for 10 weeks straight and no sun for months. Hope you took a good sturdy umbrella......To much darkness has a tendency to make people drink like, like...Psycho bunnies!
To: Joe Hadenuf
lol....I grew up in Eureka....which sees much less sun and warmth than Seattle.
Moving up here was an improvement...weather-wise

Life really sucks here. There are some nice things as you correctly point out.
Personally, I find amusing the story about how my son's car broke down beside the freeway and AAA couldn't get to it in time until the Freeway was closed. He then had a friend drive him out there but the CHP turned all the cars around on the freeway because a wildfire was racing toward them. He could see his car, but wasn't sure if it was going to get burned up. It didn't, but it gave him a lot to think about until the freeway was opened again.
When I go down to visit him, at Pepperdine, I usually fly down into LAX and depending on the route I take, I either go through incredibly expensive neighborhoods or real poverty. When I have pulled into gas stations or as I drive along the freeway, I find that I see lots of new Mercedes and BMW's and lots of really old clunkers. I seriously wonder about the middle class and where or if it exists.
I have a friend at Boeing in the military airplane group and he is looking at being transfered down to their S. Cal facilities and he is shocked at housing costs. He has told me that even though he has a very nice large home and lot with a spectacular view up here, that from what he has seen he will need to commute about an hour or so each way so he can go out far enough to afford a house.
Another friend of mine inherited some rental housing in LA, but sold it and has gotten into real estate up here. He told me some stories about what he had to go through to evict people who didn't pay rent from his apartments in LA.
I remember the last big earthquake and what it did to the DC Intertie inverter station. S. Cal was really hurting for electricity for quite a while after that until they got things fixed. Same goes for the freeway bridges that collapsed or were damaged.
Yes, L.A. has a lot of good points and some that aren't so good.

Like watching helplessly while your wife raped and killed while you were walking home, because you can't legally carry a gun to defend yourself. Like being stuck in a neverending traffic jam. Like having to pay taxes so that a constant stream of illegal immigrants can come in and live off the dole. Like paying higher taxes than just about any other state. What part of this is a stereotype? All of these happen in California, it's what you all whine about on a daily basis here on FR. Anyone else want to weigh in?
To: Henrietta
The entire thing is a stereotype. Sober up. If California is such a horrible, dangerous place, why do so many people flock here?
To: GoreIsLove
To mooch off of you, of course.
So you're saying that people are allowed to carry guns in Kali for protection, that the taxes are low, and that illegal immigrants don't flood over the borders?? I must be watching the wrong news channels...
To: Henrietta
Crime rates don't warrant that everyone carry guns around like the old west. People don't get raped on their way home (as you stated) any more than any other state. I disagree with California's gun laws, but they're no more draconian than half the states in the country. I can still buy and own a gun. There is no reason to carry it around, even in Oakland.
Illegal immigrants flooding over our borders? They're flooding over everyone's borders at this point. The nice thing about our high cost of living is that illegal immigrants are finding it harder to afford to live here and moving on.

The entire thing is a stereotype. Sober up. If California is such a horrible, dangerous place, why do so many people flock here?LOL! Like the neighbor of mine that sold his home to buy up, sold in 2 weeks and had multiple offers. He settled on a full price offer.
Yes, it's a terrible place....
To: GoreIsLove
Illegal immigrants flooding over our borders? They're flooding over everyone's borders at this point. Thanks for that. No state is isolated from this.

Like having to pay taxes so that a constant stream of illegal immigrants can come in and live off the dole. Like paying higher taxes than just about any other state.LOL! So Oregon don't have rapes, murders, or high taxes? LOL! I have been to Portland, they too have big time traffic, and your Oregon property taxes are through the roof, and you know as well as I do, Oregon has a hugh amount of illegal aliens.
Come on Henrietta, don't judge the huge state of California by downtown LA....

KFI's Bill Handel said just today that Simon is guaranteed to lose -- and Handel was/is a Bush supporter. "Mr. KABC", a longtime Davis-basher who supported McCain and Riordan, also thinks Simon will lose.
For RINO McCainiacs, Simon HAS to lose, or else their theory that only a liberal Republican can win in (California, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas, etc. etc.) goes down the drain.
Fight and Simon will win. Give up on him three months before the election and enjoy four more years of Davis.
To: ElkGroveDan
Most liberal crap starts there...it's liberal.
To: ElkGroveDan
He is delusional. The Pubbies give no meaningful choice compared to the Dems. The Dems. are going to sweep in the next elections. The question then is where do all the working people go? Calif. will be the first example of total socialism in the US. Things will not be pretty here in a few years. As for Simon I will vote for him but where is his campaign? The guy is a zero. We have been had by the national party once again. Where is Jorge? After all this state will soon be just an extension of Mexico which he seems to care more about than the US.

KFI's Bill Handel said just today that Simon is guaranteed to lose Handel starts his show off by saying, "Handel yourself in the morning". He's a fat little pervert that has his head up his crotch. Another lib screw worm....
To: GoreIsLove
Except for housing costs if you can find a better place to live than the San Diego area tell me about it. Large cities only. Getting too crowded and big but still a great place. And fairly conservative due to the large military presence.

This author is very longwinded. Ruthless editing would help this article immeasurably.
