McCain Won't Rule Out 2008 Prez Run
NewsMax ^ | 11/21/04 | Carl Limbacher

Arizona Sen. John McCain said Sunday that while he has no current plans to make a run for the White House in 2008, he would not rule it out.

"I do not foreclose the option," he told NBC's "Meet the Press."

"There will be plenty of time to consider whether to run for president again," the Arizona Republican said. "But certainly I don't think it's in any way appropriate for me to speculate on that at this time." McCain, who will by 72 in four years, said he didn't expect his age to be a major obstacle to a prospective presidential run.

"I have a wonderful mother who is 92," he told NBC. "Maybe I could use her as an example."

A recent Gallup poll of possible GOP presidential candidates shows McCain tied for the lead with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, with each garnering ten percent support.

In a head-to-head match-up with expected Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, McCain would win 53 to 37 percent, according to a Fox News Dynamics Poll.

The media-friendly Republican said he'd decide whether to make the run by 2006.

I've actually heard some on the left imply that she is W's mistress.

I'll never understand the knee jerk hatred for McCain on this board. Here's a guy with a 84 ACU lifetime rating, yet all the conservativea here hate him with a passion. Oh, by the way, the latest conservative hero, Zell Miller, has a 64.

The only reason that McCain is seriously entertaining such a notion is that the liberal/leftists in the MSM have encouraged him to think he has a chance. They would love to see him get the nomination, then they could pull the rug out from under him so the someone they really favored, like Hitlery, could win in a cake walk.

In the end, PRINCIPLES do matter

Keep kidding yourself. The truth of the matter is there are not enough of you hard right Know Nothing anti-imigration types to elect anyone Mayor, much less President.

Gray Davis was fired for Fiscal INCOMPETANCE. Don't kid yourself that immigration was anywhere near a priority for even a significant minority of voters.

He won't get my vote. All through the elections he couldn't decide which side of the fence he was on. One minute he was supporting Pres. Bush and in the next minute he was on the Skerry bandwagon.

W has already proposed amnesty for ILLEGAL ALIENS, he hasn't vetoed a single spending bill, he has appointed a pro-abortion ALBERTO GONZALES(W's first choice for Supreme Court Vacancy) as ATTORNEY GENERAL, he has increased the size of government, and on and on and on..........

W did nothing to defend our soldiers in the ABU GHARAIB scandal. Worst, he was more interested in prosecuting them than SADDAM HUSSAIN.

I don't hate McCain. I just think he is annoying and I have a big problem with Republicans PUBLICLY refuting their President (there is nothing wrong with disagreement, but it needs to be dealt with privately). If BJ Klintoon had had a 'Rat like McCain in the Senate, the man's life would have been completely destroyed.

His Support for the Kyoto Treaty. Campaign Finance "reform" , His rabid, repeated betrayal of the party and the President for Media face time. His support for Immigration "reform" etc. etc. etc

Sorry but McCain has done NOTHING to support the party and is usually to be counted on to mouth the latest DNC attack lie the Dinasour Media is spreading.

Frankly on what basis is McCain supposedly a "Conservative"? Other then their respect for him as a former POW, McCainiacks have yet to give us a single reason to support McCain. Sorry but just as Kerry's Vietnam service in no way qualified him to be Pres neither does McCain

It is not so much hate as distrust. McCain is not the most loyal Republican. He is not all that conservative and a little nutty to boot.

I am suspicious that the MSM is promoting him as a Republican candidate so they can somehow get Hillary in next time. For instance, they may have something on him they can pull as an October surprise, or maybe they have polls showing him losing to Hillary.

Condi can tell any insinuating reporters that they're confusing Dubya with the Sink Emperor . All while giving them the Condi Death Stare.

McCain will never get the nomination! Number one he does not have the temperment to be President. He will never get the church crowd's vote, and even though they are not the sum total of the Republican base you cannot win without them.

Let's :

1) Not celebrate until the Electoral College votes Bush re-elected. Vigilance in Ohio and Florida, where the Dems may try a court flanking maneuver.

2) After the EC votes, let's relax and enjoy the victory until at least inauguration day.

3) After that, let's point at the calendar and the fact McCain will be 72 in 2008.
