BUCHAREST, Romania -- A Romanian oil rig off the coast of Iran came under fire Tuesday from an Iranian military warship and was later occupied by Iranian troops, a company spokesman said.

The Iranians first fired into the air and then fired at the Orizont rig, said GSP spokesman Radu Petrescu. Half an hour later, troops from the ship boarded and occupied the rig and the company lost contact with the 26 crew members shortly afterward....

Sounds like there's some sort of wrangle about the ownership and lease of the rig. I remember Iranians in my dorm, before the fall of the Shah. They were assholes then, they are assholes now. They have to be the hardest bunch of assholes in the world to deal with. Anybody doing business with the Iranians is asking for trouble.

Romanian oil rig came under fire today from an Iranian military warship and was later occupied by Iranian troops.

The warship began to fire into the air early this morning and soon began targeting the Orizont rig which is located in Iranian territorial waters, said GSP spokesman Radu Petrescu in Bucharest.

Half an hour later, troops from the ship boarded and occupied the rig and the company lost contact with the 26 crew members shortly afterward.

Petrescu said he had no information about any injuries or deaths. Orizont has been moored near Kish island since 2004, he said.

Looks like they are trying to start some kind of stock crash. This was timed to be before the open of the NYSE.

If this is the Apocaylpse that Iran was promising the world, I'm a little underwhelmed so far.

"When do the adults get to run the world?"

When adults around the world have the guts to stand up to this tyranny.

Great article......

Read this.....
" "It has been brought to the anchorage area, three miles off Sharjah."

So the Iranian threat is not to Romania, but to the UAE." Quit screwing around in Lebanon by opposing us or you will have big problems." That's the message and the reason.

The article said the rig in question is 3 miles off Sharjah. The rig at kish is another.

US Futures aren't down much, so doesn't look like it will amount to much.

Is it a possibility that the rig was cover for something else, like an electronic eavesdropping post? If they've got any military intentions today, that's something they'd want to take out.
