Jeb Bush gets rude welcome
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ^ | October 7, 2006 | Ervin Dyer

Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, in town for a fund-raiser for Sen. Rick Santorum, had a close encounter with a large group of anti-Republican protesters as he was making his way to the Duquesne Club, Downtown.

It was about 4:15 yesterday when Mr. Bush met up with the protesters near the corner of Liberty and Sixth avenues. The protesters were marching to join other pickets already gathered in front of the exclusive club, a little more than a block away at 325 Sixth Ave.

Protesters said Gov. Bush blew them a kiss, acknowledging the crowd of about 30 chanting pickets that was made up of United Steelworkers and members of Uprise Counter Recruitment, a tour traveling through 22 cities to support anti-war efforts.

The protesters came closer.

"Jeb, go home," they shouted.

Good morning rwi...I am noticing more violence from the left this election.

When they lose ground in the election, look for riots.

"Once in the subway station, Mr. Bush scurried to the escalators..."

Scurried? what, like a raccoon? Nice unbiased reporting Ervin.

You are right. This anger has been boiling up in them since 2000. They are 'bout to become Islamicized! :-)

Bill Clinton almost singlehandedly destroyed the American steel industry so they hate republicans for it. Go figure.

Wow, these are some tough guys. Harassing and intimidating a governor accompanied by only 1 security person? Yeah, that's a fair fight.

75 protestors altogether? Not a very large number. And if Gov Bush had been hurt in some way I suppose they would have been proud of the headlines they would have engendered. If the media hadn't covered up for them.

Didn't his brother President Bush rescue the Steel industry with tariffs that enable prise rices and more competitive market, that also saved many jobs in the steel industry.

The Union steel workers seem to a gutless, shameless who have no sense of gratitude, it is hard to expect honour from scum unions.

"A large group?" I saw the numbers 30, 50, and 75. Even assuming that there was no cross-over in those numbers, they total to 155, hardly a large group. And the 30 number is from a group that travels around the country making nuisances of themselves. I suspect you could get 150 people together in Pittsburgh to protest almost anything, the last call in Sunday's Steelers game, the price of hotdogs at the game, anything. This is a silly article.

Sounds like maybe this could be fodder for another Santorum ad too. I wonder if any was caught on tape.

"I had hoped we could have a civil dialogue in this campaign but my opponent's supporters have engaged in a vicious act of harassment and intimidation against the governor of FL...." The stuff practically writes itself! And it is certainly no worse than the dirty Democrat ads practically claiming all Republicans are child molesters.

Union "toughs" probably with beer bellies extending about a foot away from their waists and puffing for air after they had to walk five feet.
