I’d run not walk to vote for Huckabee. The alternative would be catastrophic. And anyone who says it wouldn’t needs a reality check.

I'm a wild and crazy Huckabee supporter and I thank you for spelling it out, the way you see it.

I'd have to say the same thing about any of the other candidates now (except for having to have Giuliani grilled in campaign pledges regarding abortion, justice nomination, etc. before checking his box -- if not grilled on a spit).

The US Armed Forces deserve better than a spoiled country they are supposed to be fighting for that doesn’t care if their leader is competent or really involved. These poor guys would be better off home than fighting for a nation of people who would mostly never sacrifice their selfish butts for their very own safety and freedom.

Why do I say that? I have a son in the US Armed Forces. I don’t want some kook like McCain puffing up his image off the blood of my kids.

I am sorry if I make you mad, but I can no longer stand what is going on right now.

If we want a hero, I suggest this whole country look deeper than we are now.

The problem with our country is that we are supposedly, AT war, with no official declaration of it. I really wonder how many people spend much of their time appreciating the sacrifice of military families out there, or what the hell they shed their blood for.

It is a damn shame to think these young people are fighting for a nation that won’t even make sure these young folks votes are counted from afar, making a sacrifice for lazy idiots at home that would just as soon have socialism as they would freedom. Notice, the ones that are so enamored of a Barack Obama and all his vaccuous rhetoric, are not over in Iraq or Afghanistan fighting for all that nothingness Barack stands for.

I myself, am done with this country using the blood of the brave. If people do not really care anymore, it is best to keep these kids home and let them enjoy the same empty meaningless lives of those who want free stuff.

Indeed. Any would be far preferable to the alternative.

Many GOPers are (justifiably) depressed these days, so they're not in the mood at the moment to consider a "lesser of two evils" option. But the fact is that we've been faced with that very option in every election from '88 onward, so it's nothing new. Reagans don't come along too often, alas.

When the emotions settle and the reality of a possible President Hillary Clinton fully sinks in, the base will become motivated again.

Then again, a monkey in a bellhop suit is preferable to Nurse Hillary. -Wb

What's this monkey's stance on 2nd amendment issues? What qualifiers would this monkey insist on concerning supreme court nominees?

Please have your monkey call my monkey.

I’d vote for Huckabee, with a HUGE clothespin on my nose.

We will all be responsible for making our own decisions. I can understand those who are skipping this election because of a GOP candidate they can’t vote for, I just can’t bring myself to do it, and I WON’T vote for a dem.

How low will we go as conservatives?

FR has faced this question ever since it was started, and I don't know the answer to that. There never has been any agreement about that, and it's probably the most hotly debated question here over the years in one form or another.

Most, but not all here, will agree that you have to vote for a less than perfect candidate or you'll never vote ever.

Where the point is that you hold your nose and vote, or just give up entirely varies among the conservative population.

I'm of the NEVER GIVE UP persuasion. Hypothetically, if I'm faced with an election that only features two Democrats, I'm still going to vote for the one who I think will harm me least.

Of course I’d vote for Huckabee, (ABC), but I’d have to bring a barf-bag.

Yes, our armed forces who are risking their lives for your sorry ass sure do deserve to have our nation given away via open boarders and international agreements that eliminate sovereignty and self-determination.

You certainly are well grounded. /s

I don't think that anyone wants to let the perfect be the enemy of the good. However, I don't want to see the screamingly imperfect become the enemy of the slightly imperfect. Fred Thompson wasn't a perfect candidate. My biggest beef with him was his vote on McCain-Feingold. But, that (very large and ugly) blemish not withstanding, he was a whole lot better than any of the dweebs who are still in the race.

Hypothetically, if I'm faced with an election that only features two Democrats, I'm still going to vote for the one who I think will harm me least.

And in a hypothetical match-up between Hillary and Huckary, which is the least dangerous? I think that Rush was right this morning when he answered "Hillary".

I didn’t hear any of Rush today, so I can’t really comment on his statement or why he made it.

But I will tell you this, if it comes down to a Huck or Hillary decision, I haven’t made up my mind. And I never could have imagined being undecided when it comes to Hillary.

I can defer that decision, and probably will never have to make it. I like my choices to be easier than that.
