WASHINGTON -- The Obama administration is considering tapping the US strategic oil reserve as it looks for a way to respond to skyrocketing oil prices, White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley said Sunday.
During an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press," Daley said that "all matters have to be on the table."
"The issues of the reserves is one we are considering," he added.

What strategic oil reserves not plundered by Clinton.
We should have been drilling more ten years ago.
And we should have had hundreds more nuclear plants built ten years ago.
And we needed that gas pipeline from Alaska ten years ago — that project which Palin’s predecessors in Alaska bottled up.
But that is hindsight.
NOW —
1) Invade and conquer Mexico, kills its corrupt leaders and gangs, take over the oil production and ship it to the USA.
2) Invade Venezuela, kills its commie leaders, take over the oil production and ship it to the USA.
The first thing he needs to do if he wants to lower the price of oil is—
Fire Ken Salazar.
But he certainly won’t do that, because Ken Salazar is doing exactly what he wants.
Liberals would be fine with that, I'm sure. They would just say "Bush did that all the time, so what's the big deal?"
Where they vacationing at this time???
How about MEANINGFUL action to ease prices - cut government spending, open exploration and utilization of our own domestic resources (which would put people back to work), and let the market take care of the situation.
Oh- wait, that doesn’t align with Obammy’s radical anti-American agenda.
The emergency is prices going up too fast, they want it to go up but not so fast the messiah is exposed as wanting high prices.
I have not heard any elected Republican out there yelling Drill Baby Dril.

nmh: Nice to see that some other folks here have a brain and grasp what “The One’ is really up to.
So many, even right here on FR want to paint Obama as inept and dumb. He is neither. What he is: Obedient. He is being obedient to his hateful, anti-American, Anti-Capitolism, anti-freedom Marxist indoctrination he was raised from a child immersed in.
When prices were spiking under Bush...he refused to tap our emergency reserves. High prices are not a reason to deplete that emergency supply.
We have to have it for times of war, national emergency, etc...if he does tap it; it is totally self-serving and with no concern for our nations defense...yeah, for Obama, that sounds just about right.
White House calls push for strategic oil reserve release premature
Gee, they didn't seem all concerned on Friday?
If any of you recall, Clinton did that, already.
If any of you recall, Clinton did that, already. Or was it Bush? I can differentiate between any of them.

Pathetic. The creep that many, many times said he wants higher energy prices got his wish. Now the bastard proposes to tap our national defense reserve to increase supply and lower prices, contrary to everything he campaigned for and defense be damned. Is there an election on the horizon?
That seems to be a triple post. At least, I can’t seem to differentiate between any of them. teehee.
This makes as much sense as shovel ready jobs. The storage facilities are full, they would have to give the strategic reserve away to make much of a difference and it would only last a few weeks or months.
Bad idea. Unless civil war occurs in Saudi Arabia, this idea should be off the table. If civil war occurs in Saudi Arabia, rationing may occur. There will be no way to make up for the lost supply.
