Chiefs' Marcus Peters raises fist during anthem; Arian Foster to raise fist as well

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters raised his fist through the national anthem before Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium, as the team interlocked their arms.

The Chiefs won't be alone in their demonstration during the Star Spangled Banner on Sunday. The Seattle Seahawks have said they also plan to stand and interlock arms. Their opponent in the game, the Miami Dolphins, plan to take another approach.

Dolphins running back Arian Foster told ESPN's Bob Holtzman that he plans to take a knee and raise his fist during the national anthem. He said some of his teammates will join him. Foster said Dolphins players met on Friday and agreed to make their own decision on how to handle Sunday's anthem.

I wish the head coaches would take control of their players and state any protest type move during the national anthem will be a automatic bench for the game and loss of one game pay...

Can anyone imagine Vince Lombardi, Chuck Knox, Don Shula, Tom Landry allowing their players to be such prima donnas

Sideline Sport Chick: Marcus we just witnessed your heroic statement on the field during the National Anthem. Tell us what your feelings were as you were doing this...

Mindless dreck!

Male viewers across the nation: Gack, get this pansy female paperwight off my screen. Screw you Marcus!

Glad I wasn't watching.

Professional athletes these days are, for the most part, just thugs with a peculiar talent for throwing or catching or blocking a ball. Big deal. If they couldn’t do that, they’d be on a street corner selling drugs or committing petty crimes. Not all pro athletes are like this, but lately it seems more and more of them are being exposed for being the overpaid trash that they are. Just because they are on a professional team does not give them any special political knowledge powers or in any way turn them into a superior being. Now, it just seems to give them a soapbox they never would have had otherwise. Also being exposed is a SPINELESS bunch of managers and owners who value their profits above bringing a halt to the shameless disrespecting of their country. A pox on BOTH their houses!

Already doing that. Of course, with the Falcons as my home team, it wasn’t really hard.

I hope Bruce Arians has a heart-to-heart with the Cards. That kind of crap won’t fly in Arizona.

” NFL needs to end this BS.”

You can prod them by turning off the TV. Only if they feel it in their pocket book will they react.

I ain’t watching any games.

No, that’s the communist salute, displayed when playing their anthem, the Communist Internationale.

He must’ve forgot where he was, or he’s just an ignoramus.

I think they should be free to do this. I also think that the team should be free to punish such behavior as the team sees fit. The advertisers should also feel free to pull endorsement agreements as they desire.

The players can do what they really want to do and then can face the consequences like adults.

Football is a game of big money and some very big egos. A little deflation of their egos is good for most players. For some a little deflation of their wallet speaks volumes about their antics.

I think a fine in the amount of that player’s game check for the day would be an appropriate penalty.

The college ones often weren't much better in the late 1970's. Due to a housing shortage at the time, I had to live and eat with the "jocks" - though not getting their better meals - for a time, and if "sports build character," then it was bad character the sports were building.

The NFL is showing that it is unpatriotic as well as greedy. What would happen if they held a game and nobody came?
