WASHINGTON — The Biden administration will take a historic step toward easing federal restrictions on cannabis, with plans to announce an interim rule soon reclassifying the drug for the first time since the Controlled Substances Act was enacted more than 50 years ago, four sources with knowledge of the decision said.

The Drug Enforcement Administration is expected to approve an opinion by the Department of Health and Human Services that marijuana should be reclassified from the strictest Schedule I to the less stringent Schedule III. It would be the first time that the U.S. government has acknowledged its potential medical benefits and begun studying them in earnest. [...]

“Are you saying that cocaine, meth, fentanyl, heroin, and opium should all be made legal and advertised as well?”

Are you saying booze and unhealthy diets should be illegal?

Child prostitution and theft have non-consenting victims; cannabis use doesn’t.

Why do we have Congress?
They don’t seem to be needed anymore.

The country’s decline is directly correlated to the rise of the use and availability of marijuana

Perhaps if heroin becomes legal, you and your fellow conservatives can start up poppy farms. I’m sure it will be quite profitable, especially for a retiree. With hyper libertarianism, there is no end to the possibilities.

It appears marijuana is fine, it’s those menthol cigarettes that are dangerous.

It's NOT the food that makes people obese, it's how much and WHAT they eat that does, ergo, that suggestion is a dichotomy.

In places where pot is now legal, smoking it on the street FORCES others to inhale that smoke.Smoking pot in an enclosed area, where others are, forces them to inhale the smoke. And please do NOT tell me that that doesn't happen, because it DOES and many article have been written about people now complaining about it, who have NO interesting in smoking pot.

What about my question re legalizing all those other drugs?

Theft has now been more or less not only condoned, but made sort of legal, in many different cities in this nation. How so? By NOT bothering those who commit the crimes, usually with a cap on how much what they have stolen adds up to. Below a certain set figure, they are "allowed" to do it with NO consequences at all.

What about adult prostitution? Make that legal, allow them to advertise on T.V.?

And re alcoholic beverages...as with food and obesity, most people NEVER over indulge and far fewer people, today, drink any alcohol than they did 60 years ago.

if a comprehensive guide was available some people would, i know nothing about growing poppy and it is illegal in Virginia.

right now i stick with what’s legal. there are type of cannabis that requires slightly different care. i stick with ac infinity gears for vents and fan. there are also care guides for when to trim, and the discolor means (lacking certain ph or chems), complete with pictures.

heck, technology is great in some areas, we all become masters in fixing various appliances thanks to youtube.

Nice rant, legalizing prostitution, etc, etc.

Why did you marry her to begin with?

I looked up the date, to make certain that I would be able to make an educated reply. The year was supposedly 1974; however. are we talking about something like MASTERCARD, or any kind of charge card?

If it is ANY kind of charge card, then I do find the statement bewildering, since I know for a FACT, that prior to store issued cards, women could open store charge accounts, without a husband's consent and/or signature, at least from the Edwardian era; even in THE most elite department stores and local grocery stores. And once such stores had their own cards, women did NOT need a husband to sign off on having those.

By law, which he can NOT make ( okay, supposedly ), he sort of is.

Decriminalizing sort of makes it legal and there now ARE "legal" pot shops in many different places. Still, people buy it from pushers, because it's cheaper, so there goes that argument.

Criminalizing things that people use to ruin themselves - whether weed, booze, or unhealthy diets - is textbook nanny-statism.

Except when it leads to psychosis, reckless driving and associated injuries, criminal activities such as burglary, assault, and menacing other American Citizens.

No one's motivation is to keep users safe and healthy, it's to keep other citizens safe from criminal activities and harm.

I’m ok with legalizing, as long as using deadly force to exterminate the users is also legalized.

It’s sad to see Democrat and leftist talking points being seen as huge wins all the time. But they are winning on this, and it’s celebrated by the drug abusers, even on here.
