SECURITY IN LOBBYING (Daschle's wife to work for Intelli-Check. A tie-in to a National ID?)
Political Money Line ^ | 11/24/01 | staff

Posted on 11/24/2001 11:10:10 AM PST by LarryLied

Majority Leader Daschle’s wife, Linda, registers to lobby for Intelli-Check Inc of Woodbury, NY, a company that produces identification systems. Baker, Donelson, Bearman & Caldwell will provide assistance in familiarizing agencies with company’s ID systems. The form states Linda Daschle voluntarily does not lobby the U.S. Senate.

From Intelli-Check's webpage:

Intelli-Check, Inc., has developed ID-Check with the cooperation of the United States and Canadian motor vehicle administrators. ID-Check is a programmable Identification & Verification System (IVS) that reads information encoded in magnetic stripes and barcodes (1D & 2D) of state and provincial driver licenses and authorized identification cards and military IDs.

From www.taglichbrothers.com:

Intelli-Check, Inc., based in Woodbury, New York is at the forefront of a new industry that will provide reliable document and age verification systems to detect fraudulent driver licenses and other widely accepted forms of government-issued identification documents. The Company was formed in 1994 and went public in the fall of 1999.

On November 13, 2001, Intelli-Check (Amex: IDN, $15.10) announced the results of its third quarter ended September 30, 2001. Third quarter revenues increased to $280,266 versus $109,676 in last year's third quarter. The net loss was $913,119 or ($0.12) per share versus a net loss of $716,144 or ($0.11) per share in last year's third quarter. We estimate that at the end of the quarter, the Company had more than 1,000 ID-Check devices installed.

To LarryLied:Tom Daschle is the MOST partisan pol since Geo.Mitchell!Doesn't his wife also have something to do with the airline industry that should preclude either him from serving on certain committees or her from lobbying??Sorry,I forgot, those "ethical"considerations apply only to Republicans, not DemoRats!!!

Unfortunately spousal influence peddling has become pervasive in Washington. I guess it's part of the women's rights movement.

Yes. The Mrs. was tied to some regional airline that happened to have an awful safety record IIRC.

Shockingly, a federal investigation found no wrong-doing.

No, my friend. There are many women who would abhor what this woman does. It has nothing to do with women finding their own useful place in the world.

Now if this had been Tom Delay's wife's step-mother's adopted child's second cousin twice removed, the media would carry this horrendous abomination on the front page.

BTW, I heard that some of the dems in the senate want Little Tommy to reconvene the senate early so they can keep their faces in the spotlight and minimize any coverage our esteemed President's prowess as leader of our nation deserves.

What if this would have been say Mrs. Bush or a GOP senator's wife? Would the liberals be upset? I guess libs are the only ones who wouldn't be influenced by conflicts of interest.

Being a lobbyist is an OK way to cash in on hubbie's job, but not as good as being a lawyer. Just ask Hillary, former board member of Wal-Mart, extremely successful commodities trader via Tyson, etc...

As other replies have mentioned, Daschle and his wife have already used their political connections to commit a criminal offense. He used his political clout to force the forest service in his state to use a commuter airline with a terrible record--for whom she was a lobbyist. Two forest rangers were killed in a plane accident as a result. The inquiry was squelched, presumably on clinton's orders.

They are both proven slimeballs.

Linda Daschle is a nonperson. A www.dogpile.com newscrawler search brings up nothing. Perhaps NewsMax or someplace else will see this and it will, slowly, make its way into the public domain.

This is definitely a tie-in to national ID. I think that Daschle should have to exclude himself from all discussions and votes concerning airlines, airline security and National ID.

I wonder if Intelli-Check approached Ms. Daschle and asked her if she would come to work for them using her influence to help get government contracts and favorable legislation, or did she approach Intelli-Check and tell them that unless they hired her she would block them from getting any government contracts.

One is influence buying, the other is extortion.

Buy a share - write as a shareholder - tell them how important a ntional ID system is to the security of the country - then tell them that using a democrapette mouthpiece is a bad decision.
Then write a real congresperson and tell them to kill the idea.
