Gosh, we knew he was near death, but it somehow still seems so very sad! I guess it's because it's the passing of someone I feel I grew up with and like you, Miss Marple, his quiet demeanor made him my favorite.

I was a HUGE Beatle fan, knew all the lyrics of every song and saved my allowance for bubble gum cards. LOL I had penpals in Liverpool and London with whom I traded Beatle pictures and magazines from the U.S. for copies of FAB magazine and postage stamps, etc. from England.

I remember listening to a local New Orleans A.M. station, WTIX, on my tiny red A.M. transistor radio. Every night around 8:00 P.M. they held a "Beatle-Rama" for an hour and George's sister, Louise Harrison Caldwell would call in and talk to the D.J. We thought that was the neatest thing! LOL

Rest in Peace, George. Here comes the sun.

Here Comes the Sun

                   by George Harrison

Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
And I say
It's alright

Little darling
The smiles returning to the faces
Little darling
It seems like years since it's been here

Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
And I say
It's alright

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes (five times)

Little darling
I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling
It seems like years since it's been clear

Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
And I say
It's alright

Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
It's alright
It's alright

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Irma.

Here Comes the Sun

That's an all-time Abbey Road favorite, Irma. I could listen to it over and over again and never tire of it.

I just woke up (radio alarm clock) to this not unexpected but still sad news.

Got some records I need to play today.

I wake up my 2 year old with this song ("Here Comes the Sun"). She loves it!! She goes to sleep with "My Sweet Lord". Man, I can't wait until she's older, so that we can dance and sing together to the Beatles.

Didn't know there were that many ABBA fans!

Thanks for the flag to your experiences and thoughts on George's passing. When John died I thought it was a senseless tragedy. Now George is gone too. Oh well, such is life. All the best to you.
