IF the car is registered in YOUR name and someone else is driving it do YOU get the TICKET and the points against your license? If it is registered in a his/hers name who gets the ticket and points? How do they know which of you are actually doing the driving? What if your car is stolen and run a red light. CLICK you get the ticket along with getting the headache of a stolen car.

What's better is that studies have shown that increasing the 'yellow time' has exactly the same effect of reducing the red light runners.

The $%%^&! things are new in my city. I hate 'em. Lots of good work being done in California to get them outlawed.....Civil Liberties advocates occasionally are good for something.

I don't run red or yellow lights, and I don't speed; but I sure am crying "Big Brother". I don't trust ANYONE who wants to install cameras on every corner, or advocates same.

Abuse and slippery slope incidents WILL happen.

If everyone wasn't in such a hurry and would obey the law concerning red lights in the first place, cameras would not be an issue.

Well then, you should pursue the most draconian punishments for these dangerous scofflaws.

Summary execution, on the spot, for all traffic law violators.

If it saves ONE LIFE... it's worth it. DO IT FOR THE CHILDREN.

Yes, you get to pay the fine. No points are assessed for tickets from the cameras, which tends to prove what many people suspect: these cameras are nothing more than revenue generators.

If it is registered in a his/hers name who gets the ticket and points?

I think it's the first name listed on the registration. Yes, that's completely unfair.

How do they know which of you are actually doing the driving?

They don't care.

What if your car is stolen and run a red light. CLICK you get the ticket along with getting the headache of a stolen car.

If you could show that you had reported the car stolen before the ticket was issued, you could probably beat it. Notice I said "probably".

The revenue isn't just for the city or county, by the way. This is a real scam:
Since the cameras were installed at 19 intersections, they have issued citations carrying a $271 fine for each conviction, with Lockheed Martin getting $70 of every fine paid.

It seems that the police are decidedly unenthusiastic when the cameras are pointed at them as they go about their business.

Gutless Bootlicking???

I never said that I would accept cameras at intersections. All I was saying is that that was the first arguement that I have heard about them that could be a good thing.

I have always voiced my disagreement with anything that invades privacy.

BTW Insulting someone through the protection and ananymity of a chat room is the ultimate form of gutlessness.

Nope, it is about personal responsibility. It is as if everyone wants to go around and do whatever the hell they please and damn the consequences. Heaven forbid if anyone is held responsible for their actions.

Big Brother. what a freakin joke. If anyone out there is so deluded into thinking that the government gives a rat's rear about them personally, then they must suffer from an overinflated sense of importance. If the government was so interested in your comings and goings, they are not going to take your guns or set up some POS camera system at an intersection. That would be just a smoke screen to keep the paranoids busy while the scary stuff is going on behind the scenes.

Face it gang, the government is just not that concerned about any of us.

It always comes around to guns. If you have to resort to guns to make changes in the country, then we are no better than a third world nation.
