I would say that the Bible folks are the herd, with the agnostics and atheists standing out by proclaiming what's real and what isn't.

Here, for instance, is my trilogy of truth.
a. Reality is that which exists.
b. Reason is the standard for knowing what's real and what isn't.
c. Truth is the recognition of reality.
In short, my trilogy defines common sense, too.

Very good article. Very true. It seems the more education one receives in America's institutions of higher learning, the dumber one gets. With the left extremism and humanistic non-values being taught, it is no surprise that we are turning out barbarians in three piece suits!

Yeah I had seen this research done on TV - fascinating. I never had too much trouble standing up and being ostracized. lol
To: thinktwice
uhuh. We know you would.
To: thinktwice
No the atheists and agnostics are standing there proclaiming what isn't real based on what they have not experienced. That is a big difference.

Excellent article -- with applications in many areas other than religion.

Reality is merely a perception, reason is the way we navigate within that perception, and truth is as slippery as reality. Realizing this and not taking oneself to seriously enhances ones common sense.

Reality is merely a perception, reason is the way we navigate within that perception, and truth is as slippery as reality. Realizing this and not taking oneself to seriously enhances ones common sense. In a way, that's better than Sartre's "Reality is like a bucket of icy water." But, the fact is ... Where reality is objective, perceptions are subjective.

Reality is that which exists. There is more to reality than the merely physical.
To: Just another Joe
There is more to reality than the merely physical. My Webster's dictionary says you're wrong. To wit ...
reality (n) 1 : the quality or state of being real 2 a (1) : a real event, entity, or state of affairs (2) : the totality of real things and events b : something that is neither derivative nor dependent but exists necessarily

Human senses are almost totally blind in the universe of the sensible. Human reasoning is little more sophisticated than that of chimpanzees. But the brute human ego is near Godlike. Yes; but realizing truth, even in a negative way, is "(O)ne small step for man," but a gigantic step toward human progress.
