We are well on our way towards throwing a rally this town will not soon forget.   Your moral support is most appreciated - your presence more so.  Freepers from around our nation - to include "fly-over" country have arranged to attend - we hope you will too. We are going to make this happen - NO Vietnam war era cancerous infection on our watch.   This time around the "people" will be out there demonstrating what is right about our country. We are getting close to confirming our speakers and will post the rally agenda soonest     Here are details: The DC Chapter of Free Republic and Rally For America are pleased to announce The Patriots Rally for America (the "Rally") to be held in Washington, D.C. on April 20, 2002 at the Washington Monument. The Rally will be held on the Northwest Quadrant of the Washington Monument grounds near the intersection of 17th Street, N.W. and Constitution Avenue, N.W. This Rally will be a family-friendly event to show support for America and for the men and women of our Armed Forces. Nationally-known conservative leaders and friends of Free Republic are being invited to speak at the Rally. Patriotic and topical music will set the tone of this most extraordinary rally - please plan on attending. We have set a tentative schedule for the Rally to begin at 11:00 a.m. and end around 3:00 p.m. The Rally will be held rain or shine. We are asking those who attend the Rally to bring American flags, large and small, and signs with messages supporting America and our troops. Please inform your families, friends and co-workers and urge them to attend The Patriots Rally for America on April 20th. This will be a great opportunity to peacefully counter the anti-war rally and march being held the same day in other areas of D.C. by the usual collection of America-hating communist/leftist/anarchist groups. The survival of America is at stake in the war on terrorism. We cannot, and will not, allow the America-hating left to take to the streets unanswered, as happened during Vietnam. The Patriots Rally for America will provide an opportunity for all those who love our country to stand up publicly for America and to support our troops as they fight the war on terrorism. I remember a rally being held outside my dorm window, and all the shouts coming from the windows of 'get the _uck out of my country'.

At the last rally, I had a sign that said "Pick a better country....move there". If the pieceniks were told that..great . If the ROTC were told that...

I was in Brighton/Howell for the Gulf War. I'd just love to see a "peace" rally there. It's be like a rally for the Orange Order in South Boston.

The dems are actually real weak this year. I think there are more MSU GOP members than MSU Dem's. If nothing else, we are more active than they are. We were 40/60 against the Pieceniks at the last rally. Some liberals are actually complaining this MSU is 'too conservative' this year(since Horowitz was allowed to speak and there is some Affirmative Action complaints).

While East Lansing will never be a Livingston County, I've been pleasantly suprised at the low number of 'piecenik' stuff going on here. And we're even brining back the MSU Marksmanship team as well. Things are looking up here.

BTW - The City Inspector never showed. I think my Rocky sign or cigar smokes scared them off.

Observation re the leftist protests' timing:

April 20th, besides being Hitler's birthday, is also famous among users of politically-incorrect vegetable matter. Seems that many years ago students at a certain Marin County high school used to gather at 4:20 PM to inhale the smoke of this herbal substance. Soon the number 420 became adopted as slang for the activity. Eventually this folk tradition seized on the date of 4/20 as a sort of illegal-weed-imbiber's holiday, and recent years have seen big public protests in DC and elsewhere on behalf of changing the laws regarding this plant matter.

I can't help but think that the scheduling of left-agitprop rallies on the same day was DELIBERATE, so as to blur the distinctions between the nature-lovers and the anti-Bushies, potentially radicalizing the former and making the latter's contingent seem bigger and happier. Any thoughts?

After being convoyed by Angelwood and tgsltakoma from the Pentagon to the meeting, I don't feel so bad about not finding the location before. Might as well have been with Marion in the swamps; the commies could never find us.

Great progress reported on all fronts. The rally is going to be terrific. I'll send my check soon. I know it's a tough time of year, as the Feds and States are confiscating money from everyone, but I hope our FRiends can spare a dime.
