Shape our regional gathering of celebration and resistance to capitalism and all forms of oppression Calling anti capitalist revolutionaries, visionaries, tacticians, logistical wizards, facilitators, organizers, artists, dancers, musicians, mystics and direct action planners; and especially calling affinity groups, organizations, posses, covens, troops, and crews working for another, better world beyond capitalism and exploitation:
We, the local organizers of May Day: Anticapitalist Convergence & Autonomous Festivals of Resistance need your energy, creativity, solidarity and commitment to take another step in changing our world. . . A regional gathering of celebration in resistance taking place from April 26th through May 1st.
We want to begin working together as soon as possible, so we are hosting a REGIONAL CONSULTA - a time for people and groups to envision acts of resistance and festivals of celebration; to connect with other people and groups to make them happen; and to advise the local organizers here in the Bay Area on your ideas, needs and dreams for this mobilization.
During this weekend, the San Francisco Bay Area also will host an anarchist bookfair, the Radical Performance Fest, an anarchist performance cafe, and a theory-focused anarchist conference. So come to the Bay Area to read, perform, experience art, and learn, but also to envision, connect and work towards May Day.
Don't wait! - start right now.
Mobilize: Let others in your area know about May Day: Anti-capitalist Convergence & Autonomous Festivals of Resistance and prepare to come to the Bay Area -- connecting with friends or with our logistics committee. Organize together and send spokespeople to the consulta.
Prepare: Have an idea for some event that should happen during May Day? Find, or form, a local group and start organizing it -- we'll facilitate bringing different ideas together through a calendar, the consulta, and a spokescouncil.
Connect: think about how you can help with events already in planning. Some events that already have organizing groups working to make them happen include:
Arise... Presents: Hip-Hop & Resistance in The Streets + Underground Film Fest: an outdoor concert of conscious hip-hop, spoken word and other musical genres. Downtown Oakland. Organized by RACE: Revolutionary Anti-Authoritarians Of Color, anarchistcolor@yahoo.com
Critical mass: a monthly mass bike ride that falls on April 26th. Downtown San Francisco
nATURE's eXTASY in the rUBBLE of cIVILIZATION event at a to-be-announced location
Sedition: an evening of poetry and politics on April 29th. South Berkeley. Organized by the Sedition collective.
May eve: Reclaim the Streets radical street party and fertility celebration in Berkeley. Organized by Bay Area Reclaim the Streets.
May Day ceremony and Maypole: uniting workers, pagans and anarchists. Organized by Reclaim MayDay.
May Day Capitalism is not Eternal Parade: procession, confrontation, and celebration. Organized by May 1 action committee of May Day: Anti-capitalist Convergence & Autonomous Festivals of Resistance.
Wonder who is paying the bill? Daddy?
PJ O'Rourke was once asked why republicans rarely hold demonstrations. He answered: Because Republicans go to work.
BTW, has anyone else noticed that the Green-Dreadlocks Brigade is always invoking "The Goddess" or other Neo-Pagan touchpoints as a rationale for their actions (check the Web site linked above), yet goes BALLISTIC when anyone even MENTIONS Judeo-Christian values as a legitimate motivation for political work? I guess the "separation of Church and State" concept applies only to followers of the Patriarchal G-d of Abraham...
And to everyone else on this topic: Wouldn't it be inspiring if a few Bay Area Freepers showed up at the April 30th Berkeley and/or May 1st SF public temper-tantrums, and just stood on a corner with American flags, singing patriotic standards like "God Bless America" or "America the Beautiful"? No confrontation, no aggression, no in-your-face provacateur tactics. Just a quiet, dignified show of patriotism from locals from a region too often smeared by the mass media as a hotbed of camera-hogging trust-fund revolutionaries. (Okay, okay...it IS a hotbed of them, but the VAST MAJORITY of us are hard-working, loyal Americans, and this is our chance to make ourselves heard.)
Whattaya think?
As for nekkid hippie chicks, I've noticed that more and more, clothes-doffing seems to be a preferred tactic at these anarcho-fests. Maybe it's I'm-more-radical-than-you oneupspersonship. Maybe it's the Noble Savage back-to-nature mentality. Or maybe it's because it's Spring, these people just AREN'T GETTING ANY, and would probably be a LOT happier and contribute FAR MORE to world peace and goodness if they just went to some remote beach or park, got naked and rolled around in a big pile.
This is where our Kali tax dollars go. To allow the maggot infested dark siders to live their perverted life styles. Then, they can take an entire week to protest capitalism since they don't have to work for a living. The Islamic terrorists have more supporters in SF and Berkley than they have in Palistine.
Just another reason to never visit SF nor spend a single $ on anything that comes out of this maggot pest hole.
He might be a Liberal, but he hates these socialist anarchist guys as much as the most rabid of freepers.
I wouldn't be suprised if Chretien has tanks in the streets of Calgary, helicopters in the skies over Calgary, and commandos in full combat gear roaming the streets of Calgary, not to mention the average Calgarian is fed by the energy industry and isn't the least bit symathetic to this roaming mass of sub-human garbage,
I am thinking of heading back to my old stomping grounds just to watch the show
Yeah, or leave them on the counter unattended so people can steal them, er, help themselves. Remeber Abby Hoffman's book called Steal This Book?
Too bad these creeps can't find something constructive to do with their creativity. But of course, in San Francisco, all the art schools are now teaching how to use excreta for painting pictures. And it gets much, much worse. Great art, huh?
