That's one, Now if we could get Condit to do the same.
Better yet, get Hastert and Gephardt to remove Condit.

Maybe they are getting ready to bump Condit and he raised a fit because an impeached judge was on the committee.
Also, several House staffers have been subpoenaed this week according to the Congressional Record.
I've been looking for Condit's notification to the Speaker concerning his latest subpoena, but nothing so far.

Could be Alcee was leaking....

Chavez flees and Hastings resigns. Bet the CIA will find some stuff with Hastings' fingerprints on it in Chavez's offices and he knows it.

This is
partly an Alabama power play. Cramer, a Democrat from North Alabama, is being taken under the wing of Senator Shelby, an all-Alabama-type of Republican on the Senate Armed Services (or some such) committee.
Shelby and Cramer just completed a top-secret (I'm not making this up) mission to personally spy on Afghanistan, Pakistan, and several other Central-Asian/Middle-Eastern nations (officially: to gauge public sentiment in those countries).
Shelby knows Cramer personally, and trust is a very important part of top-secret work (i.e., that which House and Senate Intelligence committes must deal with).
That Hastings is out should speak volumes, but your guess is as good as mine about what those volumes will say.
That being said, I've always felt that McCarthy was right all along...

Any news of the Grand Jury dates? I haven't heard nary a word since last week when Condirt postponed his appearance.
Strangely, The Modesto Bee, which called for his resignation in August, and printed multiple letters to the editor from those of us on the get rid of Condit side, printed nothing regarding the postponement request. The editors attached a short note to the opinions page a few weeks ago that they would not be publishing any more Condit related letters unless he were back in the headlines again.

They're gonna have to drag Condit and Trafficant out of there

Exactly. It hardly seems like something he would do voluntarily.

First "intelligent" thing Hastings has done while in Congress. Someone help me here ... wasn't Hastings the one who made the outrageous statement that there were still sharks following ships along the old slave trade routes?
To: capitan_refugio
I just googled my own query and came up with this:
"Major Owens (D) said on the floor of the house that over 500,000 blacks were thrown overboard the slave ships during the slave trade era. It was so much that the sharks still this day swim that same route looking for fresh meat. By the way Major is his name, not his rank."
I am mistaken - wrong nutcase.
To: capitan_refugio
I remember that statement being replayed on every news show...That was right around the time I decided one Glock was not enough in my collection.
To: sleavelessinseattle
Okay, I'm clueless. What's a glock?
To: sleavelessinseattle
It's late. I just clued in. Handgun.
Don't own any. I'm a Winchester Model 1200 man myself.
To: capitan_refugio
To regain a shred of respect for my taste in firearms, I now humbly repeat an essential truth, if it please the Freepcourt...
"A handgun is an expedient tool used only to allow one time to acquire a "real" weapon."

Your point is well-taken. Thank you. I was a little addle-brained late last night.
