The State Department is the spawning ground for anti-american, Israel hating policy. Jimmy Carter buried the likes of Sandy Berger, Madeline Albright, Tony Lake, Strobe Talbot and numerous other America haters still there doing their dirty work.
To: Squantos
No joke. He looks like somebody set his face on fire and put it out with a rake.
To: OldFriend
Yep. Much like the INS, the State Department needs an enema. Gut the organization and let everybody re-apply for their jobs under tighter criteria. Upper- and middle-management need not apply.

Just about every American institution is corrupted by America-haters planted there over the years by Carter and Clinton. It will take a long long time to root them out and in the meantime, national security is seriously jeopardised.

Obviously the President has not invited Arafat to the White House. He hasn't even talked to him on the phone.
If you are this easily misdirected by the Bush Administration, then I am convinced that the Arabs will be even more inclined to buy the entire thing.
To: browardchad
Yes, this was an extremely strong statement: "We won't meet with Arafat Saturday, but Sunday we might" -- with no directly quoted reason why (other than mumbling about the bombing). Guess I just don't see the omniscient, effective geopolitcal brilliance of this statement.
You don't see it because it's not there. I don't think that Bush is necessarily doing the wrong thing by having Powell over there, but I do think the Bush Presidency is squandering an opportunity by not going public --- loudly and often --- with resounding criticism of Islamofacism in all its forms, and Euroweenism in all its manifestations. This is the Big Mistake of the Bush policy, to let the New York Slimes and their leftist scumbag pals define the agenda.

It will take forever if Bush doesn't start. Where is the evidence he's rooting anywone out?

I was watching The Big Story on Fox News this afternoon, and the host said to the former US diplomat he was interviewing that he wondered why Arafat would order such a bombing when it would jeopardize the meeting with Secretary Powell.
I said to the TV, "Look for Arafat to order bombings not just before, but to happen during any meeting he might get with Powell." His whole game plan is for terrorism to influence any negotiations.
To: White Mountain
And tomorrow is Saturday, so we'll surely see another bomber.

As far as I'm aware, only the Brits (in Europe) drive on the left.
Find something else to pick on the EU about..there's plenty of targets..hehe

Wait a minute! Is it "cancelled" or "postponed"? You have to be accurately when you are speaking with General Yasser Arafat. Be quiet!
To: OldFriend
I agree, oldfriend! He should not have given Arafat the credibility by meeting with him in the first place! Unlike other Republicans, I hate the wishy-washy policy we seem to have. Can't the Bush Administration make up its mind???
