Sorry about not being able to provide clickable links.
I cut off the UW 20 years ago as being coercive and arrogant in their collecting methods. This business with the BSA makes me even more glad that I did so.
Grasfire.net could use a report from YOU about your local united way if you'd care to help the Scouts.

Stopped giving to the United Way a long time ago. Give only to the Boy Scouts and the Salvation Army, and the nuns at my daughters' school.

Doesn't the United Way fund Planned Parenthood? To think these SOBs will fund infantacide, but defund the Boy Scouts because they won't allow pedophilles to be scoutmasters.

Free Republic was apparently good enough to add links here. Thank you.

Here is another great site.
The Scouting Legal Defense Fund
The Scouting Legal Defense Fund was created to protect Scouting through legal action and public education. The Fund is chaired by former United States Attorney General Edwin Meese who is assisted by a distinguished National Advisory Board.

My wife serves on local United Way funding committees and they are apparently funding Boy Scouts here. Don't know if they are "cutting back" or giving full funding. Will find out.

I am still waiting for someone in the media to admit that the problem that the Catholic Church is having could have been avoided if they had adopted the same policy as the BSA, no homo-sexual leaders.

Planned Parenthood discriminates against babies yet the UW funds them.

And I will continue to refrain from supporting the United Way

No cash to UW , Red Cross or any other charity. I will hand deliver my time, help and cash directly to those in need including Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts versus making em beg from these SOB's for my money I intended for them in the first place.............sad IMHO that these organizations prey on the emotions of those wanting to help to fill their own pockets with "administrative" cost's............
Stay Safe Pistol !

Fine. This Eagle Scout quit funding the United Way years ago.

Me too. And I urge others, especially ferderal employees to not participate in UW.
More proactively, I make a (tax deductible)cash contribution to BSA annually. I urge you to do so too.

"UNITED WAY GROUPS CONTINUE TO DE-FUND BOY SCOUTS"That's okay because me and my whole extended family and every person I can talk to are "defunding" the United Way. I am forever done with that smacked arse outfit. All the petitions in the world don't matter - - these scumbags in charge will still think in the same disgusting, perverted, liberal Democrat way. My mission is to convince every person I can to stop giving so much as a dime to the scumbag United Way. If enough employees at corporations who are routinely shaken down by United Way would simply say, "No", maybe the whole stinking mess would go under.

ditto for me too ... well said ... their arm-twisting and funds-for-fisting means they'll never get dime one out of me again ...
