"This bill will require background checks for purchasers of powder and primers." What about factory ammo?...seems like it could be twisted to 'apply' to ammo too.

I don't know if this information is getting cross posted anywhere else. I just forwarded it to my wife to cross post this to rec.guns, NRA, GOA, JPFO.
Looks like it's time to call DC again and tell my Congress Critters to vote NO!.

This bill will require background checks for purchasers of powder and primers. Stock up. Assuming this passes, which it should not. More attempts to regulate and annoy the law-abiding. Another BATF full-employment act IMHO.

While blackpowder is an explosive (just ask Guy Fawkes!), I'm not sure that smokeless powder is.
There's a big difference between something that explodes and something that just burns very very fast!

The "Open End" of this bill is that there isn't a definition of explosives.
For shipping purposes, all amunition, gun powder, primers and caps (yes, for your kid's cap gun) are class C explosives. For the point of sale or the end user, they are not classed.
Yes, I can see this as a dangerous bill and could be totally inclusive of all the above materials. This is Ted Kennedy's type of handy work. He seems to be a mentor for the Left Wing wackos.
Remember, these guys are Lawyers and know exactly what they are writing into a Bill.
