Carrier Air-Conditioning Corporation has severed funding the Boy Scouts to the tune of $42,025. A long time supporter of the Scouts, Carrier made the decision because of the BSA policy of protecting boys from homosexual leaders.

This decision will likely have a profound and lasting effect on the boys in the five New York counties served by the Hiawatha Council: Oswego, Lewis, Onondaga, Jefferson and St. Lawrence.

* * * *ACTION ITEM

Since this story appeared on April 10, thousands of Scout supporters from across the nation have expressed their outrage to the Carrier Corporation for giving the Scouts the cold shoulder.

To help spread the word, Grassfire.net is encouraging everyone who signed our Support the Boy Scouts Petition--all 348,236 strong, to voice their disappointment in the Carrier Corporation.

We would also encourage you to reconsider doing business with a company that would abandon an organization as vital as the Scouts.

* * * CONTACT INFORMATION

E-mail Carrier Corporation President Geraud Darnis, at: geraud.darnis@carrier.utc.com

To contact Carrier's Vice President of Marketing, John M. Mandyck, e-mail: john.m.mandyck@carrier.utc.com

Or you may call Carrier at: 1-800-227-7437, or fax to: 860-674-3139

Or send your concerns via mail to: Carrier World Headquarters One Carrier Place, Farmington, CT 06034-4015 * * * * * * * * * *

On behalf of the Boys Scouts of America, thank you for your continued and energetic support!

Your Friends at Grassfire.net

P.S. We received a number of e-mails urging us to point out the good things going on with the Scouts, today. We apologize if it seems that we are only pointing out the struggles and conflicts, but we feel strongly about the Scouts, and the entire Scouting experience as it pertains to life in general. But like a nightwatchman, who guards what is valuable, we must sound the alarm.

There are few things more valuable to the United States than the Boy Scouts of America. That's why we feel compelled to do all we can to protect them. Thank you for your support.

You know that big honkin' mutha we were going to get for the server room? Looks like Carrier won't cut the mustard. Liebert makes a fine unit, though. Time to call Dave Lennox, too, about replacing the old central air unit at the house.

Good opportunity to call Carrier to tell them you're in the market for their product, then hit them with the question of the Boy Scouts.......let them know you are buying another brand. :-}

McQuay might be an alternative to some Carrier products.

Too bad it's a long time until the next AHR Expo (Jan 2003 in Chicago); be neat to freep them there, right on the show floor!

You should let Carrier know this. Also, I believe there are only a few companies that make A/C's under many names. Be careful.

Don't just call Carrier Corp! Look in your phone book for the local HVAC contractor that handles Carrier products and call them also. It would have far greater business impact if carrier dealers all over the company started to raise hell with their supplier! That would get Carrier Corp's attention.

Carrier is actually owned by United Technologies Corp., and that is why Carrier headquarters is located in CT. Carrier Corp. is originally a Syracuse, NY company. The UTC takeover of Carrier is an example of why investors should use the market, and not rely on conglomerates, to diversify their holdings.

Defunding BSA appears to be a corporate trend of late. How and why are these companies making such decisions? Do they really think they engender more goodwill in the community by supporting gays instead of supporting boy scouts?

This is shameful of corporations to pull their funding. The retraction of corporate funds will greatly diminish scouting programs in both size and quality. What will replace the BSA? Will we see the homosexuals everywhere helping little old ladies cross the street?

Maybe they should create and fund gay scouts, and just see how many people would show up. I would like to think that no parent would ever place their kid in such a situation, but unfortunately, plenty of parents are willing to experiment with their kids. Otherwise, we wouldn't see the homosexual agenda garner such success in places like Massachesettes.

I believe the gay rights activists are working overtime to flood corporations with letters, faxes, calls protesting the BSA's policies. Because the left is still much better organized and determined than their opposition, they are shaking up some corporations. It seems to me that pro-BSA folks have to become more outspoken in every way. Actually, I wish the BSA itself -- the national organization -- would take to the airwaves more effectively. Just a few well-placed radio spots could help this issue a lot, don't you agree?

Well! I was considering buying a new carrier for my home, but that won't happen now!

Dear Mr President of the Carrier Corp.

YOU JUST LOST A CUSTOMER.

The Boys Scouts are not the enemy. Militant homosexuals are, you goof ball.

LOL! The parent company, UTC, states at their corporate contributions page that they stay away from "social causes on which there are strong differences of opinion." I think they need to update their policy statement.

How ironic. I am in the process of buying a 2 ton Air Conditioner from them. I'm supposed to close on it later today. They just lost an order. I'm going to e-mail them and tell them why I'm cancelling my order.
