What have the Jews done that makes you lump them in with the Arabs in the same sentence? I think she meant to lump the Jews in with the average Frenchman in that sentence; as in the synagogue burnings aren't the only trouble the Arabs are getting into.

So, when are the "Eurosnots" in Ireland going to elect a PD as Taoiseach?
Happy, what lies have you been filling our American friends with? The PDs are definitely not a right-wing party. Economically perhaps, but socially they are very, very liberal.
It's pronounced T-shock BTW.

Economically they certainly are. Do you think we'd have tax cuts over the last couple of years without them?
Socially, I'd say they are on centre. But aren't all the Irish political parties?

Tee-shuck. It's Gaelic for 'corrupt apologist for, and occasional sponsor of, terror'.
Your mistaking 'taoiseach' for 'tóníblér'. At least our man got someone locked away for Omagh.

I admire Harney for her economic input to the last 5 years. But socially they are definitely to the left. You know all the rhetoric about 'modern', 'vibrant' Ireland. Straight out of the Mary Robinson-culturally-vacuous handbook.

That makes sense. That statement, the way it's worded, could be interpreted both ways.

Why in heaven's name don't you just save up $300 bucks and go get a bargain basement PC that although two generations out of date now makes your dinosaur look like it's standing still?

Okay, so now I have: Tee-Shock, Tee-Shuck and T-Shock. I love Gaelic, the Celts inside joke on the rest of us.

Maybe he just loathes Arabs even more than Jews (which, for linguistic pedants neo-Nazi revisionists, would make him technically a perfect anti-Semite).

This article again makes the point about how useless the left/right description is--a one dimensional paradigm when something multidimensional is called for. When "extreme right" can mean advocating totally restricted government on one hand, and advocating protectionist statism on the other, and they are both considered "conservatism"--and what does
that word mean, anyway? Traditionalism? If conservatism is just traditionalism, well, that can mean socialism, if it happens to be traditional.
Ouch. Okay, that's enough brain torture for a Friday.

"The above describes Pat Buchanan in every particular."
Pat is anti-NAFTA, Anti-GATT, and anti-globalization. And he has a lot of support on those issues. But you can not say honestly that Pat is anti-American.

Pokey, please put me on your Ping! list for Steyn. His writings are graduate level tutorials in geo-politics. It is so frustrating that he states the obvious, but so few in the media are willing to say the same things.Welcome to the MS fan club! I know exactly what you mean...he tells you what you need to know very clearly and succinctly, and he does it with style and brilliant wit. His columns are true art. And he always has something new out. I would love to take this guy to dinner, seriously!

LOL!! Wow! 80's flashback!

What is the deal with the spelling? Most languages that took Roman letters to write phonetically with were actually written phonetically! I guess the Irish reeeeeally liked vowels.

You're right; Europe has opened its doors wide to immigration (for various reasons) and now the writing is on the wall...
